Summary of the previous chapter: The sisterhood of the pen, and they dont mean the penitentiary, have succeeded. Tonya is gone. Bette thinks about mortality and Alex packs for her impending departure from LA.

With the exceptions of Bette and Tina, who spent the day in bed, everyone took an afternoon nap in preparation for the night. Alice and Dana had also spent much of the day in bed, but for them the afternoon nap was their first actual sleep.

Bette and Tina drove to Milk as did Alice and Dana. They were quite happy that they had finally been able to retrieve the Subaru from the parking garage in which it had been sitting. Shane shared a ride with Alex. Given such an arrangement, no one was quite sure who the designated drivers were going to be as they would need 3 and the only person who planned to stay sober was Tina. It was decided they would deal with that problem when it came.

For her part, Shane planned to spend time with her new friend. Kit was doing DJ duties for the night so, Carmen was free to be with Shane. When Carmen was introduced to the group, it was only after they had been threatened if they said anything to Carmen about her being the femme du jour. Shane actually confided that she had not even slept with this girl yet, but was actually enjoying just spending time with her. Everyone threatened to faint from the shock, but quickly assured Shane that they would be on their best behavior.

As for Alice and Dana, they spent their time being mushy and goo-goo with each other. Kit stopped by the table to congratulate them on being rid of Tonya, though it had cost Dana many of her possessions. Alex whispered something to Kit who responded with a nod.

Getting back to the DJ booth, Kit made an announcement. There are a few lovers out there. Yall need to take a moment and look at your girl and remember how special she is. This one is for the couples. At that she began to play Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin. Kit liked old school music.
