    Hmmm…night Baby, Tina mumbled before drifting off to sleep. Bette smiled into the hair of her lover as they lay wrapped in each others arms, having spent another wonderful day with their children, exploring a vibrant New York City, which always seem to be at its best during the holidays. Feeling truly content, Bette soon found herself drifting off to sleep, into dreamland…..

    Bette walked into the gallery, loving the feeling of belonging that washed over her every time she entered this space, wondering once again how she was going to possibly give up coming here on a daily basis. As she was walking back to her office, she thought she heard something on the other side of the wall of the main gallery. She hesitated for only a moment, and then walked around the wall into the rear gallery to see what had caused the noise. As she rounded the corner, she stopped in her tracks, letting out a loud gasp, her hand automatically coming up and clutching her heart. Feeling herself getting dizzy, her arms started flailing, and frantically she reached out for the wall to keep herself from falling. She couldnt believe what she was seeing. Nica? But….youre…. Confused, she just stared at the beautiful African American woman, who was walking toward her. Oh my God…! Her breathing was becoming erratic…tears falling down her cheeks. She was hanging onto the corner of the wall so tight, her knuckles were turning white. She choked out the name again…Nica?

    The woman, who was now directly in front of her, stretched her arms out in anticipation of being able to hold onto the love of her short, but very happy life. She had a look of complete, unencumbered joy on her face. Yes Elizabeth…Im here, she whispered….my sweet darling Elizabeth.

    Bette was confused, not understanding what was happening…a faint part of her knew she was dreaming, but Nica standing in front of her just seemed…no, felt so real. She looked into the eyes of the woman before her, and didnt care whether she was dreaming or not, she just wanted to fall into them. Oh Nica…she ran into her arms. I cant believe you are here! I mean, Im not sure where here is, but…oh God, Nica!
