    A dream…and a coming out party.

    Tina was as surprised as Dani, having no clue that Dan and Bette had planned this coming out party, so to speak. She looked over to see her daughters reaction, and felt her own eyes tear up as she watched the tears falling from Danis eyes, mixing with the grin that was now spreading across her face.

    Bette squeezed Danis shoulders, satisfied that she was getting the reaction she and Dan had hoped for when she had initially approached him with the idea. Well, Ms. Danielle Collins, what do you think? Is it Ok for me to display the work of a very talented young artist. One whom I believe has a great future in front of her?

    Dani was overwhelmed. She turned into Bette, wrapping both arms around her. Thank you MaBe… She looked up, hesitating. I hope its Ok to call you that…….?

    Bette leaned down and kissed Danis cheek. I would love it if you called me MaBe. You, Alex and Paul are all part of me now…part of my family.

    Dani beamed up at Bette and then looked over at the wall. She whispered, almost in awe…Thanks for this…I cant believe those are my paintings up there. They look so beautiful! I cant believe you want to display them, but if youre sure, it is more than Ok with me to show my paintings!

    Bette laughed. Thats exactly what I thought when I first saw them…how beautiful they are. Bette ran her fingers through Danis hair. Now, go enjoy yourself. I have a feeling you are going to be a popular young lady tonight.

    Dani smiled and turned toward Tina. She leaned into her mother, allowing Tinas arms to wrap themselves around her. Tina whispered into her ear…I am happy for you, and I want you to know that whether these paintings are hanging here, or hanging in our livingroom in Seattle…I am so proud of you.

    Thanks Mom…I cant believe MaBe did all this. Do you really think people will like my paintings?

    It was Tinas turn to run her fingers through Danis hair. Oh Baby, there is no doubt in my mind that MaBe loves you very much, but I can promise you that when it comes to art…she wont display anything that she doesnt think is deserving. And another thing I can tell you…she is very rarely wrong when it comes to art. Mother and daughter smiled at each other, sharing in the emotions of the moment, but also each secretly enjoying being able to share with the other the use of Bettes nickname. Now, go on. Have some fun before it gets too crowded in here.

    Ok Dani turned and with her two very impressed siblings, went off to raid the banquet tables.

    Tina turned to her partner. Do you have any idea what you just did for our daughter? She will remember this night for the rest of her life. Tina started kissing Bettes cheeks and nose.I cant believe that with everything you are doing for us, that you also planned this surprise.

    Bette cupped Tinas face with her hands, briefly thinking about the promise she made to Nica after her dream the previous night. She winked at her beautiful partner and murmured softly…Oh Baby…this is only the first surprise…and if you liked this, I know you will like the others I have planned.
