Coming up for air – part fourteen

Coming up for air – part fourteen

On the drive to Bette’s place, Tina started to come around a little. The look in her eyes became more focused and her face went from apathy to embarrassment.
“I’m sorry, Bette…” she whispered, wringing her hands.
“Don’t be… how long were you in the car…? You’re freezing,” Bette said, glancing at Tina out of the corner of her eye.
“… I don’t know… I just needed to gather my thoughts… I would have gone to the hotel any minute…” Tina said, looking down at her hands.
“I’m glad you didn’t…. you’re in no condition to drive…”
Tina looked at Bette as if she was wondering, what she was doing here at this hour.
“Henry wont let me see Mikey anymore… it’s over…” Tina said with a despondent sigh.
“I’m so sorry, Tina…” Bette said. She wanted to say more to make Tina feel better, but she had no idea what she could say to help her.

Bette pulled up in front of the house. She jumped out of the car and went to Tina’s side. She opened the door and reached out her hand to assist Tina’s exit. Tina let Bette put her arm around her back to steady her walk to the house.
Bette took Tina into the bedroom. “I think you need to sleep Tina… you can tell me about what happened in the morning… would that be ok?” Bette asked, facing Tina.
Tina looked at her unsure of how she suddenly found herself in Bette’s bedroom.
    “Tina?”
    Tina nodded, “yes… I … I need to sleep…” she stammered.

Bette guided her to the side of the bed and sat her down. She bent down in front of Tina and removed her shoes. Tina slowly took off her jacket and started unbuttoning her shirt. This was so not how Bette imagined undressing Tina the first time after they split up. This was heart wrenching. As Bette helped Tina take off her pants, she had a flashback to the night when she came home to find her wife in complete and utter distress, crying in desperation over the loss of their son. Back then Bette had held Tina for hours till her crying died down. Bette had tried so hard to stay strong for Tina, pushing her own feeling to the back of her mind. Only for a few short minutes had she recognized her own all-encompassing grief, leaning against the front door after she had thrown the demonstrators off the property. From that moment on she had used all her energy to repress every emotion she had. Back then Bette had undressed Tina and held her as she drifted in and out of sleep. Bette was hit with an overwhelming sense of deja-vu.

    1. Bette is right Tina have been living under a lot of estress and sadness that she needs to start rebuilding her life with Bette. I hope they will be so happy together

    2. Henry sucks! I think Bette will step up to the plate and carry a child. I don’t think Tina is mentally prepared to carry another child right now. I love the time they are spending together. They need this.

    3. Thank goodness for second and maybe even third chances. Unfortunately, children do get caught up in adults’ messes. It is the adults who do not use the brains that were given to them at birth.

    4. Bette said something about Tina being a mother some day. Would the baby be Bette’s? Hope so. Great chap, i felt sorry for Tina. Just like Bette was thinking, Tina has been through so much in the last year or so. When she makes it through this and maybe bette and her will get back together ;), she will be a stronger person. PPS

    5. I’ve never been very fond of people who use children as pons. Love is not a game, and the one that usually gets hurt the most is the child. Fortunately none of my ex’s have ever kept the children away from me after we broke up. Our girls have been through a lot, but as always if they stick together they can pretty much just about accomplish anything.

    6. Losing your own child before birth or after is devastating so I do understand Tina’s feelings towards Bette at that time as you’ve represented them…and losing a child u’ve shared with someone else is also devastating but I feel for Henry because it seems like he gave his heart to T…and he feels used…and I think T feels guilty for having done this…I do think Bette is the only one who can fix T…and no babies just yet…let T get better…and some alone time for them…then bring on the babies…I feel for Mikey and I just hope that Mikey’s mom might recognize that Mikey is fond of T…maybe T needs therapy from a woman who knows what its like….Bette is being so loving…PPS

    7. A beautiful chapter and well written. I am very happy that Tina and Bette are finding their way back into each other’s hearts. True love never dies and their love was true. Tina never really loved Henry, she loved Mikey but never Henry. Henry was just an object in my opinion. Please continue with the wonderful story!
