    “I’m glad. I figured we could get something to eat and then head home and relax. The MET is closed on Mondays, but I know that Valerie will be there and I wanted to take you in to get acquainted with her. And I believe you start next Monday, right?”
    Bette nodded. “Yes. Next Monday.”

    They were referring to Valerie St. John, the museum’s director. She and Bette had spoken over the phone several times but they’d never had a face-to-face meeting.

    Instantly Tina felt guilty. She loved Bette and she missed her, but she knew it didn’t mean she had to be a bitch to everyone else she loved. She nodded, not sure of what to say.

    “And you’re sure everything is okay?” he asked.

    “I’m sure, Dad. I’m sure. I had a really great time. I had such a great time I miss my friends and my dorm and my life. But you’re right. When I’m here, I’m here. I’m sorry.”

    “Tell you what, make it up to me.”

    “How?” asked Tina.

    “I’m thinking of taking a run. Come with?” he asked.

    Tina smiled. She’d always loved running with her father. “Really?” she asked.

    “Yeah. You know you’re the only one that would ever keep me company on my runs. I’ve missed you.”

    Tina smiled. “I’ve missed you, too.”

    “Great. Then it’s all settled. Let’s head out in like an hour or so.”

     

    The Roommates – Pride & Prejudice: Chapter 4

    Father and daughter took off from the edge of their driveway and as they jogged along, Tina began to lag behind. Stephen turned to her at one point and stuck out a teasing tongue. That gesture alone was enough motivation to send a burst of speed from Tina’s stubborn mind to her weak legs. She picked up the pace and as they traversed old and new hills and winding streets, her feet and lungs began to remember the terrain. These elements of her physique fell in line and they carried her steadily along their journey.

    The run felt so good to her. It energized Tina in ways she hadn’t known she’d needed to be energized. The pace, the feel of familiar sea-tinged air, and stubborn rays of determined soft sunshine washed over her and centered her spirit. It put all the worrying and anxiety to rest and as those heavy burdens took their slumber, she was at last renewed and refreshed.

    1. Excellent update, MTS! Valerie was very honest with Bette about what was required to run a Art Museum and/or Gallery. That experience will always stay with her. A demanding and difficult person, can be the best teacher one can have in order to become more professional. We are glad that Tina could come to terms with her family. However, we doubt that their parents have grown enough to accept and understand T’s sexuality. Tina has always been too scared to tell their parents, because of old prejudices running at home.     3. Hey MTS, I jumped into the first chapter of Pride & Prejudice and realized it was a continuation of Roommates and Roommates 2, so I went back and read all of the previous stories and am now caught up. I really like this series of stories and am looking forward to your upcoming posts. jinjur

    4. The “Prima Donna” is gonna run Bette around in circles. I can’t wait to read about their adventures in interning. But most of all I can’t wait until Bette goes to visit Tina. :)

    5. I hope that Bette survives the Met and that Tina survives the summer without her love. I am not a drama person so I hope that the summer is pretty painless.

    7. Good to see that Tina chilled abit and gave her parents (and herself) to enjoy her homecoming. So I’m guessing this art lady will be the model for the power lesbian that Ms. Porter will one day become. Thanks for another great update MTS. Keep the post coming….How long before Bette and Tina are in the same time zone again?

    10. HEY MTS, Sweet to see Tina reconnect with her parents agaion. I think she needs to tell them the truth and unburdon herself. They love her and I am sure it will be a shock to them initially, Tina is still their child and they will do all htat they can to protect and love her. Seeing the difference that Bette has made it her life can only convince them of the love between these gals. How it has completed them. As for Bette, she has a tough challenge in working with the crazy prima donna fro the Met. I do think this will be the making of her professionally. It is strange to think of Bette as anything other than “astounding”. Okay a little polish might be needed to reveal her sparkle and cute to have Bette and her Mom bonding over the femimine pursuits of shopping and pampering. The best bit was Bette and Tina’s phoen conversation which only increased their need to be in each other’s arms once more and enjoy the physicality of their realtionship.
