Just The Girl 2.0 – Epilogue
EPILOGUE: The End is Only the Beginning
The playground.
Otherwise known as the battlefield of tiny tyrannical souls – or in plain speak, the rainbow-colored training ground where innocent children of preschool age first learn the dysfunctional and downright ugly ways of this twisted world. Its is where their innocent eyes are opened to the existence of man’s seven deadly sins, namely: greed, gluttony, pride, sloth, envy, wrath and yes, even lust. Not the sexual and carnal kind of course, but more specifically, the kind that lusts for blood.
This posh playground in Southern California is where they turn the meek lambs into ferocious lions; the Gandhi’s into Genghis Khan’s. It’s survival of the fittest – the kindergarten kind.
Hold no illusions of crayons, giggling, play dough and fun. It’s a violent world out here. Trust me, these little kids don’t play fair. They are children born from money. They are entitled. They are spoiled, bratty, demanding and often times crazy annoying. They are a special bunch of fierce and bullheaded hellions who are armed with chubby hands made for mischief and tiny crooked milk teeth that can tear through a person’s soul.
They are their parent’s joy sent from heaven; but they are also their teacher’s hell on earth.
Although.. it should be said that not everything was dark and gloomy; twisty and violent. There were also rare instances of laughter, camaraderie, unity and generosity. But of course, one should put emphasis on the word rare.
Its a tough world out here at Redwind Academy’s esteemed co-educational preschool. The playground, the so-called war zone, is no place for the weak of heart.
Out in the jungle of swings, slides, monkey bars and sand boxes, they teach little ones the art of survival. Not the long suffering teachers, mind you. It’s the spoiled brats themselves who do all that punishing training to each other. There’s a healthy amount of hair pulling, toy snatching, punching, kicking, shoving and rough housing. These children of the rich and famous are merciless, ruthless and oftentimes cruel; but they’re also tiny, adorable and so darn cute that the mayhem they cause is often overlooked due in part to their innocent puppy dog looks.
