    Soul Mates – Chapter 8

Tina managed to regain her composure before making it back to her house. She was still in disbelief over what happened with Bette, her heart ached for the beautiful brunette. Tina felt fresh tears beginning to burn her eyes so she quickly entered the house before she started crying all over again.

Helena was sitting on the couch and immediately jumped up when she saw Tina at the door. She quickly walked over with the intention to envelope Tina in a hug but stopped when she saw the blonde take a step back. Helena expected as much but it still stung to see a reaction like that in Tina.

    "I’m sorry . . . I know I shouldn’t have been so hard on you"

Tina at this point didn’t want to hear any explanations, she was still heartbroken over Bette.

    "What do you want Helena?"

"Another chance" When Helena saw the hesitance in Tina’s expression, she quickly blurted out another sentence, "I know I don’t deserve one after I spoke to you but I’m hoping you’ll give me one anyway. Everyone has a past, Tina . . it was really idiotic of me to pass such hard judgment. I love you and who you are when we’re together, I could care less about everything else"

Tina stood there, listening to Helena and wishing it were Bette saying those words instead. She wanted Bette to be the one fighting for her instead of pushing her away. She thought back to the intimacy they shared on the couch and then the look in Bette’s eyes right before Tina ran out of the house.

Even though she was hurt, Tina regretted leaving as quickly as she did. Bette was a stubborn ass, Tina couldn’t forget that. Sometimes the brunette needed an extra push, something that made Tina upset. Would it always be that way? Would Bette never open up unless she was forced?

Tina pursed her lips, she want exactly an open book either so she was no one to pass judgment. It seemed their stubborn natures got in the way again.

When Tina didn’t answer, Helena grew concerned and very afraid that she may have ruined things for good.

    1. bette is so thick in the head in this one. wake up and start treating tina right. Helena is so sweet. if Bette doesn’t want to fight for Tina, please set her free and let Helena win her over again.

    2. helena is sweet, decent, and beautiful. so if Bette wants to push Tina away…i won’t blame Tina for feeling something for Helena after being jilted. Bette wake up. Go get Tina or else someone else will!

    3. Yep, Bette would probably appreciate hearing that she was always the first choice. But she’ll have to get her head out of her pittuty to hear it. :-) Thank heaven for the superior mule-handling skills of Alice and Kit. Now when are we gonna learn what Bette’s been up to in her world-conquering activities? Maybe at the big show? (Doncha hate it when readers try to guess what’s coming? OK, I’ll stop doing that.)

    4. I love the phrase that it takes a village to raise a child. I sometimes think that it takes an extended family to get two people together who fate has guided to be in the same space so that they can chose their destiny to be together. Besides anything worth having is worth fighting for. Me thinks that the two lovers are ready to fight for each other!

    5. Someone has to make the first big overture or grand gesture… may as well be Bette since she seems to have been laboring under a lot of assumptions. Tina spilled her guts to everyone but Bette it seems (maybe she would have if Bette would have picked up the phone or seen her, though). Maybe once she gets to Alabama Bette will sweep her off her feet (in more ways than one)? A girl can hope ;) Thanks for the post! :)

    6. I’ve read the chapter a few times more and I think if Tina calls again she should tell Bette that she loves her and only her and wants to make their marriage work and that the divorce has been called off. I think Btte needs to hear that. Can’t wait to see what Bette thinks of the fashion show being in town. This is a great story.
