    Tina goes back to her parent’s house and some other stuff happens but I’ll keep that hushed :P

    Seeing her friend so down and hurt was breaking Alice’s heart, it was obvious that Tina was truly in love with her childhood sweetheart. Tina was such an amazing person, she deserved to be happy and Alice couldn’t help but want to see her that way.

    "I don’t know . . keep calling her until she unplugs the phone to save her sanity, write her, stalk her, anything! Just don’t give up"

    Tina couldn’t help but chuckle, the little smile she had fading just as quickly as it had formed. The all familiar pain in her chest hit her full force.

    She wanted to fight for Bette, to say how sorry she was and beg forgiveness. Bette meant the world to her and all Tina wanted to do was prove that to the beautiful brunette but with every personal visit that was ignored and every unanswered phone call, Tina had lost a bit of hope. At this point she doubted Bette would ever want to see her again and the pain from that thought alone was excruciating.

    Alice sighed when she failed to lift Tina’s spirits, saying the only thing she could.

    "She loves you, you know. I may not know her personally but from what you’ve told me and from what I see in your eyes . . its pretty obvious. Sometimes you just gotta keep pushing, even if it hurts a little. Remember, she’s probably just as scared as you are. You have to open up if you expect the same from her"

    Tina let out a similar sigh and looked up into her friend’s eyes, ready to give a negative response to the wise-cracking-turned just-pain-wise woman in front of her but immediately stopping herself. Alice was a lot of things but she wasn’t a liar and she didn’t get her kicks out of bringing up people’s hopes to let them crash and burn either.

    When Alice wasn’t being incredibly perverted or nosy, she was amazingly brilliant and unbelievably compassionate. She knew what she was talking about and in this specific situation, Tina knew deep down that Alice was right.

    "You’re right" Tina said in a low voice and a small smile.

    3. bette is so thick in the head in this one. wake up and start treating tina right. Helena is so sweet. if Bette doesn’t want to fight for Tina, please set her free and let Helena win her over again.

    4. helena is sweet, decent, and beautiful. so if Bette wants to push Tina away…i won’t blame Tina for feeling something for Helena after being jilted. Bette wake up. Go get Tina or else someone else will!

    5. Yep, Bette would probably appreciate hearing that she was always the first choice. But she’ll have to get her head out of her pittuty to hear it. :-) Thank heaven for the superior mule-handling skills of Alice and Kit. Now when are we gonna learn what Bette’s been up to in her world-conquering activities? Maybe at the big show? (Doncha hate it when readers try to guess what’s coming? OK, I’ll stop doing that.)

    8. I love the phrase that it takes a village to raise a child. I sometimes think that it takes an extended family to get two people together who fate has guided to be in the same space so that they can chose their destiny to be together. Besides anything worth having is worth fighting for. Me thinks that the two lovers are ready to fight for each other!

    10. Someone has to make the first big overture or grand gesture… may as well be Bette since she seems to have been laboring under a lot of assumptions. Tina spilled her guts to everyone but Bette it seems (maybe she would have if Bette would have picked up the phone or seen her, though). Maybe once she gets to Alabama Bette will sweep her off her feet (in more ways than one)? A girl can hope ;) Thanks for the post! :)

I’ve read the chapter a few times more and I think if Tina calls again she should tell Bette that she loves her and only her and wants to make their marriage work and that the divorce has been called off. I think Btte needs to hear that. Can’t wait to see what Bette thinks of the fashion show being in town. This is a great story.
