Best Thing That’s Ever Happened To Me
To Becca it had felt like Jo was staring down solely at her, from a big ass screen that was almost two stories in height, with those icy yet smoky dark blue eyes hinting at mind-blowing sex that she could have just enjoyed before the picture was shot – a look Becca had seen a lot of during that special time they’d had together. The confident, sexy smirk on that too-handsome face made her think of how those thin, naturally reddish lips tasted. Becca unconsciously touched her lips as she’d stared up at Jo’s face, and she’d blushed at the memory of what those eyes hinted at.
Her cousins had stopped messing about her, too, after noticing that Becca had stopped talking at mid-sentence, to stare at the super-large screen above them. They’d playfully jostled against her in an attempt to grab some of her attention back. “Hmm… we get it. He caught your eye. Jelly, but we get it. Damn sexy dude. How is it possible that someone like him still belongs to the same species we come from …. what kind of gene pool do guys like that spring from, anyway?”
Becca had forgotten about them, though, and all her attention had stayed on the smoldering Jo staring down at them in the advert. “Damn. Did they airbrush his face or something? Or is all of that natural? Not even a hint of a five o’clock shadow. Perfect skin.”
“But I’m not married. Oh, you mean the eternity rings?” Jo’s voice was calling her back now. Becca’s thoughts reset to the present, and none-too-subtly, she shook her hand free of Jo’s gentle hold on her wrist, and took a step back, then crossed her arms in front of her. She nodded mutely, tilting her head to one side, as if questioning Jo. Yes, THOSE rings. Entwined with each other. Eternity rings. That symbolize eternal love, fidelity, loyalty. I told you about how much I liked them. If you’re not married, why are you wearing them?
Surprisingly, Jo breath out a sigh of relief, and a happy smile inexplicably split her face. “I thought for a second there that I’d forgotten another ring I was wearing earlier today. Thank goodness I hadn’t!”
That confused Becca even more. “You were wearing another ring?”

Skydancer,
You have strangled me with grief! My God! What a traumatic delivery you’ve written.
Triggering stuff. Keep going.
All the best luck,
Blackbird
Thanks,
Had to get it out of my head.
U, on the other hand, are awesome. I see you flex there, with Gentleman Jack. I mean, what can’t you do?
You do the best stuff here, Blackbird.
Hey Skydancer, Nice to be in touch again. What of yours should I read tonight or whenever you get this request? Presently, just so you’ll know how to guide me to the stories you think I’d enjoy, I’m in the headspace of being on the edge of a story about to birth. It’s a tale about Anne Lister’s watch and how she behaves with, or toward it. The watch has power. It came from someplace special and came especially to her. For all those reasons and more I’d like to know Anne Lister’s watch’s origin story,
My sincere thanks for your compliment on my Gentleman Jack series. I’ve been off writing many other types of things and have been away from even thinking about fanfiction until, as Anne Lister might say, “Good Lord.”
My “Good Lord” moment was when the characters hooked me during episode three of Gentleman Jack.
Okay, recommendations of what of yours I should read.
Be well, Skydancer. The moon is out tonight.
Blackbird
Skydancer, Wonderful narration. Vivid view into Becca’s pain. Eager for a glimpse into her and Jo’s magical train ride. Great beginning!
Thanks, took a while to get it together.
Yup, you guessed it. The train ride was and will be the piece de resistance of this whole thing, in my mind, that I found that I could not not write down.
Hope all is well!
Skydancer, you’ve written some wonderful stories over the years but, this is stellar. Thanks for sharing. Can hardly wait for more. Thanks for posting,
