    Nobis Pacem Chapter 1

Second, we’d returned to my place, past midnight, after the somewhat embarrassing display of drunkenness Damon exhibited in the after-party of that fashion show put on by some celebrity. He’d made a pass at one of the leggy models during the party, right in front of me, and then had the balls to follow me home. Really?

Lastly, he’d acted rudely toward Aerin, who’d clearly suffered some sort of shock, and then said he’d call me after. Is that douchebag on crack or something? Does he think I’d want to even talk to him after all that?

Speaking of which …. I switched on the main lights of my apartment and started pulling drawers open in the living room, and inspected all of the medicine cabinets of the bathrooms. I also looked into all of the drawers and closets in my bedroom, as well as those of the two guest rooms.

Pretty soon, I had a pile of his stuff in the middle of my living room. I was exhausted but I resolved to finish this unsavory task. I had no idea about whether or not he had drugs tucked into his clothes or things.  I didn’t want to find out, in any case.

I retrieved a folded up box from the storage room and unfolded it. I threw all of his stuff into it, and taped up the box.

I scrawled his name and address in several places of the box and pushed it to the hallway, a few feet from my door. In the morning, I’ll call my friend’s delivery service and asked them to take it to his place.

It was now nearly three in the morning, and I was dead on my feet. I walked slowly to my bathroom, and while doing so, thumbed my phone to open my email. I sent Connie, my assistant, an email to ask her to inform the people setting up the Hong Kong office to postpone our videocon to Monday morning. There was no way I could do anything tomorrow – besides, it’s a Sunday! Mental note: tell the other directors that I’m no longer going to clean up someone else’s mess, no matter how urgent people feel the situation is. I run a clean program and so should the others: if not, let the chips fall where they may. There’s no way I can pull a continuous series of 7-day work weeks because of their crap, and hope to have any kind of life!

      • Here in spirit. But this is about a few special L words that play out in a couple’s life in another part of town. In the fringes of the world of the series I’ve been writing; but different. Hope you like it.

    1. Will try this again. Left a message about 4:00 this morning and something happened, it’s not posted. My message was to thank you for posting such a beautiful love story. And that I hope this story will be continued we would like to know what happens to Aerin in the future. Thanks for sharing.

    2. Dainty, Hellbent, and new friends: thanks for the comments. Honestly: was tough to pull this together, but it was worth it. Am v glad you liked it. Ok. I hear you. It may take a while for an update on her story, but it will be coming.

      • Well this was a pleasant surprise. I am always seeking an episode from your creativity. So much, I had to buy a smaller electronic device so that I might read your input on the go. Now, for me buying another electronic anything is saying a lot. I am one of the “dial phone” “get up and change the channel” “do not Text me and expect an answer” old school DIE HARD. But, your writing genius persuaded me to become a mobile reader at my neighborhood “coffee house.” Please continue to write

    3. Beautiful story. I could feel Aerin’s struggle. I would love to read about the 18 months in between their first time and Chris’ final moments. I sure it would be moving.
