    Nobis Pacem Chapter 1

“I’m running a bath for you. And once you get in it, I’ll go downstairs, find your kitchen, and fix you a cup of tea and … a sandwich? Have you eaten anything?” she asked.

I shook my head. My stomach grumbled audibly at that, and I looked away, embarrassed.   I hadn’t eaten dinner, and I’d thrown up my lunch earlier. Chris’ talk of tea and a sandwich brought my empty stomach suddenly into focus.

She walked me to the bathroom, and I allowed her to unzip my dress; it pooled around my ankles as it fell away from my body. I stepped out of the dress automatically, then Chris bent to pick it up. While half kneeling she helped me pull my silk-wool pantyhose off. She offered a hand to steady myself as I slipped my panties off, stepping behind me as she did. She stuck her other hand out as I unclasped my bra.

She’d lit some candles earlier and their scent, along with the scents of the bubble bath, combined to relax and soothe me. I felt transported to another mental state, which helped me not make anything off of the fact that I was standing stark naked in a steamy bathroom with a stranger, basically.   I looked her way, briefly, and saw she was carefully directing her gaze away from my body. Still, even in that mental state I thought I saw or maybe felt, a flicker of awareness. Anyway, whatever it is, she doesn’t seem to mind, being here with me, I thought.

I stepped into the bath, turned the taps off, and sank slowly into the welcome warmth and comfort of the bubble bath.

She walked out of the bathroom and shut the door quietly behind her.

It was almost two and I was halfway to dreamland. I realized that Chris was on my cell, talking to Jules. I’d fallen asleep while I was in the bath earlier, and Chris had woken me, somewhat alarmed after I hadn’t responded to her repeated knocks on the door. She finally opened the bathroom door, roused me from sleep, and then helped me out of the bath. She dried me off with a towel and then blew my hair half-way dry after wrapping me in a bathrobe.

      • Here in spirit. But this is about a few special L words that play out in a couple’s life in another part of town. In the fringes of the world of the series I’ve been writing; but different. Hope you like it.

    1. Will try this again. Left a message about 4:00 this morning and something happened, it’s not posted. My message was to thank you for posting such a beautiful love story. And that I hope this story will be continued we would like to know what happens to Aerin in the future. Thanks for sharing.

    2. Dainty, Hellbent, and new friends: thanks for the comments. Honestly: was tough to pull this together, but it was worth it. Am v glad you liked it. Ok. I hear you. It may take a while for an update on her story, but it will be coming.

      • Well this was a pleasant surprise. I am always seeking an episode from your creativity. So much, I had to buy a smaller electronic device so that I might read your input on the go. Now, for me buying another electronic anything is saying a lot. I am one of the “dial phone” “get up and change the channel” “do not Text me and expect an answer” old school DIE HARD. But, your writing genius persuaded me to become a mobile reader at my neighborhood “coffee house.” Please continue to write

    3. Beautiful story. I could feel Aerin’s struggle. I would love to read about the 18 months in between their first time and Chris’ final moments. I sure it would be moving.
