Nobis Pacem Chapter 1
I traced a finger over those stunning eyebrows, then down her nose, and said aloud one of the first things I’d noticed about her from the moment we’d met, quickly introducing ourselves years ago, as we both struggled with our keys to enter our respective apartments, about a week after I’d moved into my apartment after the renovations were done, “your bone structure is one of the finest I’ve ever seen in anyone, woman or man. They broke the mold when they made you.”
She smirked and took a step back, but taking one of my hands between both of hers. “My facial bone structure – that’s what you can come up with right this second? No proclamations of undying love or even lust? I’d settle for lust, you know, if I can’t have love.”
I shook my head and pulled on her hands to follow me to my shoe closet, tossing, “Who says you can’t have love?” over my shoulder.

I relaxed against her warm frame as we both leaned back on one end of the high-backed edge of my couch, hands playing with each other, as we watched the fire that Aerin had lit in my own fireplace in the living room.
“I love this couch,” Aerin said, with an audible sigh of contentment. “I love every single thing in this apartment, Chris.”
I smiled, and drew her hand up to my lips, and kissed her long, tapered fingers one by one.
“Hmmm … I think we’re just about done with this bottle. Should I go open another one?” I asked after a few more minutes of contented silence.
“Do you think I’ll let you stand up just when I have you where I want you?” she asked in disbelief. I couldn’t see her face, and couldn’t tell if she was serious or joking. Or both. I felt several kisses on my hair.
“Alright, now that we’re both mellow -” I started.
“Uh oh,” she said quietly.
I squeezed her hand.
“Just a few things,” I said. “For now.”
“There’s more than a few things?” she asked with clear surprise. “There’s no one I have ever been closer to, felt more trust with, respected, cherished, and felt cherished by –“
“Baby,” I tried again.

Bette and tina????
Here in spirit. But this is about a few special L words that play out in a couple’s life in another part of town. In the fringes of the world of the series I’ve been writing; but different. Hope you like it.
What a beautiful story! Your writing is such a treat to read as you evoke every emotion.
Will try this again. Left a message about 4:00 this morning and something happened, it’s not posted. My message was to thank you for posting such a beautiful love story. And that I hope this story will be continued we would like to know what happens to Aerin in the future. Thanks for sharing.
What an amazing story ! So glad I stumbled upon this treasure !
Sad and sweet -but you said it complete.
Dainty, Hellbent, and new friends: thanks for the comments. Honestly: was tough to pull this together, but it was worth it. Am v glad you liked it. Ok. I hear you. It may take a while for an update on her story, but it will be coming.
Well this was a pleasant surprise. I am always seeking an episode from your creativity. So much, I had to buy a smaller electronic device so that I might read your input on the go. Now, for me buying another electronic anything is saying a lot. I am one of the “dial phone” “get up and change the channel” “do not Text me and expect an answer” old school DIE HARD. But, your writing genius persuaded me to become a mobile reader at my neighborhood “coffee house.” Please continue to write
Beautiful story. I could feel Aerin’s struggle. I would love to read about the 18 months in between their first time and Chris’ final moments. I sure it would be moving.
