    Moonlit, Episode 2: Daylight

    Moonlit by Jessica Knight

Elisa shrugged, closing her eyes momentarily before bending down to retrieve her own food from the grass where she’d laid it. ”I guess I just notice things like that. I’ve always been observant, more than most people. It’s probably what makes me as good at my job as I am, because I pay attention to things most people don’t.” She told her a little softly, feeling kind of introspective and a little self-conscious too, because she usually didn’t talk about things like this. At least, she hadn’t really since Margot. She and Rebecca talked, but they’d never really gotten much to the bare your soul stage, where with her and Dominique, it just seemed like they defaulted to that place automatically somehow. It was nice, but it was also intense – Definitely in a good way, but still…

”And you… noticed things about me… that told you how I liked to be touched? How a gargoyle would touch someone… with whom they wished to mate?” She asked, a little doubtfully.

”Mm, yeah, I guess so.” Elisa replied honestly, opening her salad up and smiling a little at how good it looked and smelled (she was more hungry than she’d realized, actually). She looked up over to Dominique then and realized her companion hadn’t opened her food yet and that she needed to talk about this first, so she closed her salad’s container and gave Dominique her full attention. ”This morning, when we were…” Elisa smiled. ”When we figured out we were, you know, attracted to one another, just the way you touched me, the look in your eyes… and, um, since then, in your office, and during the tour you gave me, even in line at the deli, or just when we’re walking, it’s always like… when we’re not touching, you want to be; when we are, you have to stop yourself from moving closer to me. A lot of lesbians or gay men, or just people, um, human people, in general I mean, but maybe especially for two women, because it’s just culturally more expected or acceptable, we, um, we like to get close too. But with you, I guess I couldn’t help but notice it was different somehow… Like it… it meant something different, something more maybe. Like… like the not naming things thing. Like, for you, the… like what we say to each other without words, is… I don’t know, even more important. Maybe even kind of… scared somehow. Which… I think that’s really beautiful, you know? And, so I guess I just thought… I’d try to give the same signals back you were sending to me. Besides, I don’t know if you realized it or not, but you touched me in some very similar ways in your office earlier, so…”
