Moonlit, Episode 2: Daylight

”I like this car.” Dominique found herself saying softly as Elisa got into the driver’s seat beside her.
”You do, huh?” Elisa replied a little playfully. ”Well, she always was a little of a chick magnet.” She joked, not at all seriously.
Dominique looked over at her in, well, you could call it something like bewilderment. She shook her head. ”You’re going to have to tell me what that means, I’m afraid.”
”Really?” Elisa asked. ”Well, I was just joking anyway. ’Chick magnet’, it’s, um, guys call their cars that in old movies or something – you know, when they have a sports car that attracts a woman’s interest? It only ever actually happened to me once, really, but that was after a gay pride parade, and I didn’t even take her up on it, so it probably doesn’t even count.” She explained, feeling a little self-conscious for even saying it in the first place.
”Oh… alright then.” Dominique replied, not exactly sure what else to say, but finding herself privately amused none the less – Less by the content of what Elisa had said, because she had the feeling that she didn’t really fully understand the meaning in the correct human cultural context, but by Elisa herself, and how, even when she said something so odd, she still found it so endearing. It convinced her, more than ever perhaps, that she really must be falling in love with this woman.
Elisa started the car and tried to think of something better to say next. ”Tell me something?” She asked as she pulled out into traffic.
”About what?” Dominique asked, curious.
”About you, or, um, anything really.” Elisa qualified.
Dominique smiled. ”I went to a rock and roll concert once.” She told her. ”With… a friend. In England.”
Elisa laughed. ”Who was the band?” She asked.
”I have to confess, I have no idea.” Dominique found herself laughing too. ”I do remember I had a headache by the end of it. You, um, you don’t like to go to those sorts of things by any chance, do you?” She asked.
”Not really.” Elisa countered. ”Though I have gone to a few on dates before. Was that what that was for you? A date?” She asked curiously.
