    Moonlit, Episode 2: Daylight

    Moonlit by Jessica Knight

Dominique sighed. ”She would have liked that, I’m sure.” She said, sounding a little annoyed at the memory. ”But no, that didn’t happen between us until years later. And it was never… like it is with us…” She finished softly.

”It sounds like there’s quite a story behind that.” Elisa observed just as softly.

”…You could say that. But… don’t think you have competition for my heart. You… I haven’t felt like I do about you about anyone… at least, not since…” Her almost shy sort of wistful introspection trailed off unfinished.

    ”Goliath, you mean.” Elisa provided.

Dominique looked over to her in just a little surprise. She immediately remembered that, yes, she had told Elisa about that part of her life, at least somewhat, but… it was still so unusual for her, talking about this. She… very rarely had ever let herself talk about those times, with anyone. Luna sometimes, in recent years, and Fox of course knew more than anyone else alive on the subject besides herself – but then of course, in Fox’s case, she hadn’t exactly had much of a choice in the matter, had she? She felt that familiar tightness in her heart of course, but, somehow too, it also felt good to talk about it, even just a little. ”Yes.” She replied to Elisa’s deduction. ”Since Goliath.”

”…Well, then… I feel very honored.” Elisa replied softly.

Dominique was quiet a moment after that as they slowed to a stop at a red light. When the light turned green and they started to move, she decided to change the subject. ”So, if not rock and roll, what sorts of music do you like then?” She asked, smiling a little. ”I only just realized, I told you my tastes in that area, but you haven’t told me yours in return.”

Elisa smiled. ”The same as you, in a way I guess. Happy songs. Love songs. Beautiful songs. I’m not really that particular about the style of the music, as long as it makes me feel good to listen to it. Probably comes from doing the job I do. I need cheering up more than a lot of other people might sometimes.” She confessed softly.

Dominique found herself reaching over to stoke Elisa’s hair a little in a fond gesture. She wanted to say that, perhaps she liked songs like that because they were so like her, because it really did seem to her in that moment that they essentially were like her. She wanted to say that just being with her made her feel those things too. She didn’t say those things though, just sat back in her seat and thought her thoughts quietly to herself.
