After Love – (Chapter: Chapter 4 – Miles and Miles Apart)

“Sean, don’t take this the wrong way, but how did they get this demo deal in the first place?  Who from RCA thought they had what it took?”

“Well, there’s an executive at RCA that wants his son to be in my next movie.  Fatherly love, what can I say?  I guess I was just hoping for some miracle to happen.”

“Well you can force it, Sean.  Take what you’ve got, and see where it gets you,” I said rubbing his shoulders, “but can we chill for a while.  I’ve got to play that guy’s bass guitar.”  It looked custom made and it was calling my name.

“Yeah, okay.  Break time.  You go play,” he smiled at me while he took another sip from his bottle of rum.

I sang my heart out with the guys for hours before we called it a night.  I had a blast and realized that they really weren’t as bad as I thought; they just missed a woman’s touch.  As I left the office, I suggested Sean find a female to share lead vocals.  He made the obvious suggestion of me, and I declined.  The music just wasn’t my style, and I didn’t see myself dedicating that kind of time to a band named Atomic Passion.

I gave Sean a quick kiss and walked out of the building.  My phone chirped indicating that I had a missed call.  I had probably not heard it with the noise of the afternoon.  I had missed a call from Chelsea around 10:00, right around the time that I got to the studio.   I flipped my phone open to listen to my voicemail.

“Ashley, you’re not going to believe who just walked into my studio.”

“A lawyer?  You really don’t seem like the type.  I was thinking more teacher or counselor, maybe therapist,” Chelsea said to me while we waited on our drinks to come.

“Therapist?  No way!  Spence has too many issues of her own,” Madison chirped in as the waitress set her diet coke in front of her.

“Thanks, Mad, really.  I don’t have that many problems,” I defended.  “In fact, my life was cruising before Madison here decided to show up and move in.  Her and all of her wet towels.”  I grumbled the last part still feeling a little resentment.

    1. Why do I have the feeling that Madison’s new partner is going to be Aiden? I love this story. I love how all their stories are intersecting inadvertently. Spashley is just meant to be…or at least I hope so.
