    Author Notes:

    Spencer used to be a geeky freshman who only had eyes for Ashley, the gorgeous senior and also her sister’s best friend. Ashley moves to New York, but comes back to L.A. 4 years later. Now that she’s back will she see Spencer differently?

    "…Are you listening? Spencer!"

    "Huh?" Spencer forced herself to concentrate.

    Kyla looked annoyed. "I SAID, we’re picking Ashley up from the airport today at 5:30. Did you want to come with us? I need to figure out if you’re taller than her now. That would be a tragedy! I don’t know what I’d do!!" She burst into agonized tears.

    "Kyla, relax. I haven’t grown an inch since the Ninth Grade. It’ll be fine. OK? I need to stay home tonight, though. Big, BIG paper." Spencer rubbed Kyla’s back and squared her shoulders. She needed to go home and prepare.

    "Please prepare for landing. All seatbelts must be on and have your trays up. Please have your seats in the upright position. Thank you for flying with American Airlines!"

    Ashley leaned back heavily against the seat. God, she hated to fly. Once she got to Los Angeles, it would take some serious persuasion to get her back on that flying torture machine. She’d never been so sick in her entire life.

    "Miss, can I get you a cool cloth? Blanket? Neck massage?" The stewardess leaned down provocatively, lightly touching her shoulder.

    "I’m fine, thanks." Ashley closed her eyes. The lady seemed more than willing. She’d been accosting her the whole flight. Probably could’ve taken her in the fucking cockpit. Maybe if she weren’t so nauseous…

    The plane lurched and Ashley gripped the hand rests. God, when was this thing going to get back on the ground?? She forced herself to take deep breaths. She thought of Los Angeles. It was hard to believe that so many years had passed. Kyla getting married to Aiden! It seemed like nothing had changed at all while she was away. Well, almost nothing.
    She blinked back tears.

    Arthur had succumbed to cancer only a year after she’d left. Kyla and Spencer had been heartbroken, and she’d flown back for the funeral. Their mother hadn’t even bothered to show up. Luckily Kyla was old enough to take custody of Spencer, or who knows what would have happened to her.

    Ashley smiled to himself. Sweet Spencer. Always with her face in a book, or writing something down. She’d missed her the most. Always so enamored of her, it made her feel like being a better person. Ashley couldn’t wait to see how she’d changed. She’d already graduated from high school! How time flew.

I’m so excited to see Ashley’s reaction. All I have to say is PLEASE don’t let Spence act like a complete goober in front of Ash. Make her seem calm cool and collected. That is the way to do, I think. If Spencer acts all dorky I’ll feel all embarrassed for her. You could write that and I’d still read it tho. PMS please. Love xoXOxo
