    Completely Incomplete – (Chapter: 46)

“I’m fine. Probably just sore from the ride yesterday.”

“If you want, we could just hang out here today and drive home tomorrow. I mean, if you think it’ll be better for you and everything.”

“No, I’m fine,” I told her as I shifted to get out of bed.

    “Need any help?”

“No, Ashley, I’m fine,” I repeated, this time a little more angrily. I hoisted myself out of bed by myself, though, which probably wasn’t the best idea. When I was finally up, I was dizzy and in pain. I couldn’t understand why I was being so short with Ashley; I was normally an extremely patient person.

“Spence, don’t do that. I think I have every right to be worried about you, okay? You were just in a fucking plane accident. Give me a little slack here, alright?” she defended herself.

“I’m sorry,” I apologized. “I think my concussion is making me, like… irritable or something. Is that possible?”

“Yeah, probably,” she relented. “Don’t worry about it.”

“Thank you.” I walked over to her and pulled her in for a quick kiss. She was smiling once again.

“We should really get going, though.”

“Alright. Do you mind if I take a quick shower?”

“Mmm… only if I can join,” she smirked. “I’ll be gentle. Maybe.” I laughed and jokingly pushed her away.

    “Nope.”

    “Aw, please?”

    “After our date.”

“You’re killing me here, Spence,” she complained.

“Well, don’t die before tomorrow night!” I joked, giving her a little peck before closing the bathroom door behind me.

As I waited for the hotel shower water to become hot enough, I began realizing that maybe I was jumping to conclusions a bit about living with Ashley. She had a point. I mean, 3 years in a high school relationship is equivalent to practically 10 years of marriage in later years. We had made an intense commitment to each other at a pretty young age, and while we’d both matured and changed a little, we were still the same people with the same feelings; why couldn’t we just continue this commitment as it was? Sure, it may be weird or awkward or difficult living with each other at first, but isn’t that always the case when you first move in with someone? At least now, we’d have the advantage of the newness of things in general; we’d probably be all over each other anyway, once we were living in the same city.

I guess both sides had valid arguments; maybe a little more time would help me discern which situation would be the best.
