First to break – (Chapter: I’m watching you)
“Absinthe?” she asked me.
“Isn’t that illegal, or something?”
“Well, serving you any kind of alcohol is illegal,” she smiled knowingly, “and yet here I find myself pouring you a drink anyway.”
“Point taken… thank you,” I smiled, unable to help how my eyes kept flickering back to Spencer and Aiden.
“You like her don’t you?” Kat said, studying me closely.
“What?”
“That Spencer girl,” she nodded over to her. “C’mon, you’ve been staring at her all night!”
“Yeah, well, her attention is focused elsewhere,” I sighed, “plus, she’s straight.”
“She specifically told you that herself?” Kat’s eyebrow raised.
“I don’t need to be told – just look at her!”
As I said it, Aiden was wrapping his arm around Spencer’s shoulders, and she was leaning into him. I felt like someone had stabbed me in the chest, but tried my best to ignore it. It wasn’t like they were making out, or anything, but their close proximity got to me because they looked so comfortable with each other after only having met each other that night.
“Looks can be deceiving,” Kat told me. “I mean, look at me – I am the picture of a law abiding citizen and yet I’m serving alcohol to a minor.”
“Craziness!” I agreed, laughing slightly despite myself. Kat always managed to make me smile. I took the shot from her gratefully and cringed as it seared my throat on the way down. You could certainly tell it was virtually pure ethanol.
“Just, be careful,” Kat told me, wistfully, “and I don’t just mean with the drink.”
“I know” I smiled. “I’m not gonna get my heart broken, don’t worry.”
“Good -”
“Ash!”
It was Spencer. Somehow, despite my frequent glances in her direction, she had managed to leave the table and magically appear at my side without me noticing. I was startled. Kat smiled at me before slinking off, not charging me for the drink. I told myself I’d thank her later.
“You okay?” I asked, turning to Spencer.
“I was about to ask you the same thing,” she grinned.
“Yeah, I’m good,” I spluttered, feeling some of the Absinthe rise in my throat and burn like a bitch.
“Good,” she smiled softly at me, allowing silence to fall for a second. I just watched her, waiting for her to answer my question. “I’m good, too.”

And you acuse me of stalling, bloody poms. Sorry, that was the aussie in me coming out. I’d come throw sand, but you only have pebbles in England and it’s illegal to import sand. So instead I shall just sit down here in Oz and implore you to post post post :) It does make me happy you see.
man i love this story! pms!
It seems to me like Glen already knows Spencer is gay and is doing the big brother thing and warning Ashley to be careful with his baby sister, but Ashley’s too busy thinking that Spencer’s straight to notice that Spencer likes her.
