    Everything she said was true.

                “Why did you come to LA?”  I whip my head up and around, not expecting to hear another voice. 

     

                “A……Ash…..Ashley?”  I manage to stutter out her name eventually as I flip myself to a kneeling position and crawl down the rock, not breaking eye contact with her. I fear that if I do, she might disappear.  I come within three feet of her and I am scared; her once warm and welcoming eyes now reveal nothing.  She has closed herself off to me.

     

                “What are you doing here Spencer?”  Her voice is elevating. I’m not sure what I expect.  She crosses her arms waiting for an answer.  Her stare become too intense and I have to look away for fear that she might burn a hole right through me. 

     

                “Ashley, I-” I have nothing.  If I knew the answer to this question I would not have been asking the advice of burning gas millions of miles away just minutes earlier.  She is getting frustrated at my inability to articulate. 

     

                “Come on Spence.  You come strolling into my life again after five years, there must be some reason.”  I realize it is not her fault that she is being so short with me, but that doesn’t stop the tears.  I bite my bottom lip and attempt to look her in the eyes again, unsuccessfully. 

     

                “I….”

     

                “You what?  You think I’m just going to drop my life for you?  Tell you that everything is ok?”  She is now flat out yelling at me.

     

                “No, I-”

     

                “You left me Spencer.  You said your goodbye.  You left me a meaningless note on the dresser, like I was some one night stand.  You didn’t even give me a chance to say it.  I waited for you the whole day I was packing to come home and stop me.”  My shoulders shake as I cry more.  I can’t believe I actually have any tears left in my body.

     

                “Ashley, please-” I take a step toward her raising my hand to try and make contact, but she steps away in disgust.  She looks down for a minute before she shakes her head and looks back up at me.

    2. are you kidding me? you are going to stop writing one of the better SON stories and make us all wait. have you not seen the crap on the L word. i need good stuff like this to offset the crap from that show. dude… i am begging you to not make us wait. thats like two months. i need some type of motivation to get me through the last two months of school.anyway i loved this chapter. dude ash is so angry. i hope its all just an act. well i mean its not but eventually i hope she forgives spencer. but yes i love your story and i beg you not to make us wait. until your return thanks for all the great updates thus far.

    6. WWWWOOOOAAAHH! When I saw you were gonna make us wait til May 31, first I thought, “Hey! That’s my birthday! What a nice b-day present!” then I realized, “WHAT?!? That’s too freaking far away!!! AHHH!!!’ and then I scrolled down. WHEW! LOL You know, I’m glad that you have Ashley putting up a fight. It’s *much* more realistic and damn it, for all the pain Spencer put Ashley through, Spencer *should* have to fight pretty darn hard to win Ashley back & show her that she can be as good as a girlfriend to Ashley as Ashely was to her. Ashley gave up a heck of a lot in her life for Spencer where as Spencer didn’t do shit..and now she’s gotta pay for it! The line about putting Ashley’s heart in a blender and hitting ‘liquefy’ was absolutely classic. GREAT line! Can’t wait for more!!!!

    8. make spencer work for that. i’m glad its not some corny neat unrealistic running through the sunflower field with harps playing in the background kind of getting back together. not only was it a bad break up but its also 5 years. 5 years is enough time to fall out of love, become a different person and move the hell on. lol. so on with the cardiac arrest rendering drama =) good job as always.
