Next Time Around – (Chapter: The phrase that pays)

Ashley and Spencer have moved to the couch due to the discomfort of the hard floor. Ashley was still in Spencer’s arms, although her crying had slowed down to a still stream of tears. Ashley backed away for a second from the soaked blue cotton. Brown eyes met blue and the look of depression still ached inside of Ashley. Her mascara pointed sharply down her cheek. The brunette desperately tried to avoid eye contact. “Leave.” Ashley said.

Rest in peace girl, your death is such a shame
The paper said a bullet got in your way
But I smell foulplay, possible poisoning
I had to bring her in for questioning
I went to your grave, dug up your body
Brought it to my house, where you lay

Spencer knitted her brows together in confusion. “What?” she asked not sure if she heard her right.

“Leave. I don’t want you to see me like this. The only reason you even did this little comforting trip was because you felt sorry for me.” Ashley’s word came out harsh and cold as she bluntly pushed Spencer away.

    So lets play doctor babe
    We'll operate today
    Incisions must be made
You could help solve this case

    For me

I headed downtown, to share what I had found
    It's not a suicide, it's a crime
    I have a witness, it's clearly evident
There had to be someone else present
At the time of death, poisons in stomach
How could she pull it, if she's dead?

“It isn’t because I feel sorry for you, Ash.” Spencer stated. “It’s because I love you and I want to help.” Spencer was desperately trying to find a weak spot in Ashley’s defense to push through and help her, but it didn’t look like she was going to find one. Ashley was strong like that.

“Do you have any idea what I go through emotionally on an every day basis?” Ashley asked not really expecting an answer. “I wake up and I take care of two kids, who I love to death, but they are reminders of the most horrible time of my life. Then I see you and I love you so much. That’s what scares me. Because, I know you love me too but all I ever do is hurt you. I don’t want to hurt you anymore. So things will be better if you just left.”
