North of Somewhere: All Grown Up – (Chapter: Falling…)
“Because you know she’s where she’s supposed to be.”
“I never said any differently. Calm down.”
“I am calm!”
“You wear it well.”
“I just really want to see her, ok?”
“Ma’am, you can go back now,” the receptionist said, pointing down the hallway.
“Thank you,” Ashley said, practically running all the way to Recovery.
She spotted Meredith right away, standing with a doctor.
“Ashley, she’s ok,” Meredith said, the brunette’s face obviously signaling her mental state.
“You can go in and see her. She’s sleeping,” the doctor said, standing aside.
Spencer was sleeping peacefully, her lips slightly parted, a large white bandage on her forehead. Ashley pulled a chair over to the side of the bed, softly caressing the side of the blonde’s face.
“I love you,” she whispered leaning into kiss her cheek.
“I love you too,” Spencer said, her eyes opening and a smile spreading across her face.
“Spence…”
“Ash…”
“You scared the shit out of me, you know that?”
“I scared the shit out of myself. I’m never drinking again,” Spencer replied, wincing as she touched the bandage, “I can’t believe I have to wear this for a week.”
“Hey, at least it matches the dress.”
Spencer laughed, “Yeah, great.”
“If something had happened to you…”
“I know,” the blonde said with a nod, “I’m so sorry.”
“You really know how to inspire a girl to write her vows,” Ashley said with a smile.
“Oh yeah, how’s that going?”
“Let’s not talk about it.”
“Ashley!”
“Hey, I would’ve been finished, but someone decided…”
“Don’t even try to blame it on me.”
“Fine, but like I said, it’ll be done in time for tomorrow.”
“I sure hope so.”
“So,” Ashley said, not sure how to address the elephant in the room, “who were you talking to when you fell?”
Spencer knew Ashley already knew the answer, and she knew that things seemed a lot worse than they actually were.
“Ashley, come on. You know nothing happened. Rachel’s the past. You have to know that I would never let anyone else come between us ever again.”
“I know, it’s just weird, you know? You two were engaged…two weeks away from walking down the aisle and she comes out of nowhere the night before our wedding.”
Spencer shrugged, “Life’s weird like that. But it doesn’t have to be some sort of sign or something. If anything it just showed me how much I love you…that I’m making the right decision this time.”
“I guess…”
“Well, I know. Don’t get all insecure on me now, Ashley.”
“I know, I know. I’m sorry. I’m just tired and I was scared and tomorrow’s the biggest day of my life.”
“It’s a little important to me too, you know.”
Ashley nodded, “I would hope so.”
The door opened and Spencer’s doctor walked in with Meredith trailing behind him. “So you’re free to leave, Ms. Carlin. Everything looks good. Just make sure you keep the bandage on and we’ll see you in a week, ok? See the nurse on your way out,” he said.
“Thanks, Dr. Gregory.”
Meredith sat down as the doctor walked out, still slightly intoxicated, “Spencer, I’m really sorry about all of this.”
Spencer shook her head, “It’s ok, Meredith. This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have gotten so wasted.”
“You held your liquor a lot better in college, I must say. Anyway, I’ve got to get out of here. I have a guy from the club waiting for me in the lobby. So…is there anything else you need?”
“Um, no. You can go.”
“Cool, see you tomorrow, Spence. Later, Ashley,” the redhead said, exiting quickly.
“Ash?” Spencer said as soon as they were alone again.
“Yeah?”
“Let’s go home.”

I’m so glad Rachel didn’t mess things up for Spencer and Ashley. Drunken Spencer dancing on a bar sounds pretty enticing. I love this story, it just gets better and better as time goes on. Looking forward to the wedding chapter! PMS
I was so focused on hoping Lindsay didn’t show up that I didn’t even think about Rachel! Thank goodness she didn’t mess anything up. Loved the fluff and all the sweet moments between Ashley/Spencer. I feel like maybe some good stuff is coming up with the wedding.
Great Update. Keep up the good work. I can’t wait for the next chapter. PMS real Soon.

Can’t wait for the wedding to hear Ashley’s vows after this. She should definitely have inspiration now. Spencer with a bandage and a wedding dress. LOL. Those pictures will be so funny. Ha ha…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I am in L-O-V-E with this story. It all feels so real. I’m glad that Rachel didn’t cause any uneasiness within Spencer. I could so not take another Spashley break up. I also find it somewhat hilarious that Spencer has to wear a bandage on her wedding day. That’s the kinda stuff that happens to me.
