    She doesn’t know.

I sit here watching as the jeweler’s delivery man has her sign and hands her the small velvet box. They cost me, but not as much as if she doesn’t like them or..well, me. I realized what Lorne knew was that it was Cordelia that keeps me clean and Cordelia that I stay here for. What will I do if..what I have to that’s what. She’s opening the box and she is smiling. YES!!! She likes them. Wait, she’s crying. Why is she crying?! *****!!!! I better do something.

    "Hey ‘C’, what’s wrong?" as if I don’t know.

"Huh? Oh, nothing. Just someone sent me these beautiful earrings..diamonds..real diamonds..and I don’t know who they are from so how can I thank them?" she wipes her eyes.

"OH," she likes them…"Well, maybe they just wanted you to have them and enjoy them and not spoil it by telling you who they were from." I feel my hands shaking as I place them on the desk.

"I want them to know how much I love them," she tells me putting them in her ears.

"I’m sure they knew you would or they wouldn’t have bought them." I try to steady my hands.

"I guess so. I just don’t know how anyone would know to get these specifically though. How would they know I love teardrops? How would they know to have them delivered at night?" she whispers.

"Someone must know you pretty well. I mean it was perfect right?" I know I am pushing my luck, but I want to know.

"Yes, they must. That could be a creepy thought though.." her voice trails off.

"I wouldn’t worry about it, Cordy." I don’t want her to think she shouldn’t keep them.

"Tell me one good reason why I shouldn’t worry. What if some demon or blackmailer or some other nasty sent them to me…they could be spelled…" she is going to take them out…NO!!!

    "I…because…" I can’t. "well..they just couldn’t be. They are too perfect."

"That’s my point, Faith. Too perfect." she reaches for one of the backs.

"No!" *****. "Don’t take them off. Someone who cared about you wanted you to have them. I’m sure of it." I am stammering. Damn, what do you do to me?
