The Slayer Chronicles: Episode 2
“Oh yeah… but you’ll have to excuse the mess. My roommate is a real pig sometimes. I think it’s because her and her boyfriend just split up, but that’s not a good excuse…”
“You coming up?” Willow questioned softly.
“No… I’ll wait here… make sure nobody messes with your baby,” Kennedy said patting the leather seat of the car. Willow opened her door and let the chatterbox out of the back. Kennedy watched as they disappeared into the building… the girl was STILL talking. “Does she ever shut up?” Kennedy questioned no one in particular. The disappointed Slayer shook her head, leaned it back on the headrest, and let her eyes close for a moment while her thoughts swam around the non-productive night. After a few minutes, Kennedy began to have a strange feeling. The kind you get when someone is staring at you. She slowly opened her eyes and looked around at the buildings and cars nearby. When she turned her head to look into the shadows across the street, a head quickly disappeared behind the corner of a building next to an alley.
“Well… well… a spy already. Now who would be spying on us? Someone must know we’ve come to the Big Apple for some fun…” Kennedy opened her door with lightening fast speed and raced across the street. The figure, seeing Kennedy coming its way, turned and ran down the alley almost as fast as Kennedy was moving towards it. ‘It’s definitely a girl… small body… long hair…’ Kennedy sized up her prey as she pushed her body to move even faster. As Kennedy gained ground, the escaping figure stopped and shoved a dumpster into her path. Kennedy was quick to react and evaded the dumpster with little effort. ‘Closer… closer…’ she thought as she ran. ‘GOTCHA!’ Kennedy tackled the figure to the ground and quickly rolled her over to look at her face. She sucked in her breath at what she saw. The girl she had pinned to the ground was one of the rejected Slayers from a few weeks before.
Keeping her composure, Kennedy shook the girl roughly and began to question her. “Why are you following us?” The girl simply turned her head to the side and refused to answer. Kennedy raised the girl to a sitting position and asked again. “Why are you following us?” she questioned through clenched teeth. The captive looked at Kennedy and started to laugh low in her throat. Soon she was in near hysterics and Kennedy could only grasp the girl’s arms tighter as she wondered what kind of drugs she was taking. Suddenly, the laughter stopped and the girl looked into Kennedy’s eyes.
