    South Of Nowhere – 2.22 – Things Meant To Be

     

     

                A couple of weeks had gone by, and Ashley was adjusting to not only living at the Carlin’s, but also being a part of the family.  The first evening there, she’d been set up in the small den, on the pull out couch.  Which meant, chores, doing your homework, being home on time, when you said you’d be there and of all things, behaving. 

     

                She hadn’t missed a class in over two weeks.  Was actually forced to do her homework, which she was finding difficult because she’d never applied herself before.  It was past seven, Spencer was sitting across from her.  Spencer’s foot was drifting lazily up and down her leg.  “I’m trying to finish this Geometry.”

     

                “I can think of a few angles I like…,” implied Spencer, batting her dark blue eyes.  Ash giggled.  They hadn’t kissed, hadn’t held hands, and hadn’t acted like girlfriends since her mother’s death.  Spencer had tried, but Ashley had rebuffed her advances.  Telling Spencer that she couldn’t go live with her father, and that the Carlin’s wouldn’t appreciate them doing those things in their house.  It had stunned Spencer, who’d always thought of Ashley as the biggest rules breaker on the planet.  Yet, here she was, begging for distance. 

     

                Spencer wasn’t sure she should give her so much space, the big leaps forward that they’d taken, and now they’d taken too many steps back.  Spencer was scared that they’d revert back to being friends.  So, Spencer had resolved to flirt, tease, and be as playful as humanly possible with Ashley.  Spencer’s rising carnal want and need were fogging her mind.  Having Ashley in the same room, same house as her at all moments, was driving her to a slowly building frenzy of sexual desires.

     

                “Oh, what angles?” inquired Ashley, eyes twinkling.  The flirting was coming easily now, but Ashley still kept her at arms length.  She couldn’t see herself having to go live with her dad.  To have to live in the same house as his hand model girlfriend and her two step brothers, who were spoilt brats.  Starting a new school, without Spencer, without any friends, and certainly without any real supports system like the one she had here, with the Carlin’s.
