Things Meant To Be – (Chapter: 8)

“”Did you two know about this?”  Spencer demanded.  The last hour had been spent with her and her mother and grandmother fighting over what seemed to be, her now prison.

“Know about what honey?”  Arthur asked.

“About Grandma coming here and laying down the law?  Not only did she take away my cell phone, she went through my closet and took out all the ‘revealing’ clothes!”  Spencer made quote marks around the word revealing.

“Grandma Potter’s here?”  Glen asked.  He’d never gotten along with his Grandmother much, she was abrasive at times, and impeded on Glen’s sense of fun.

“Oh yeah, and she found your porn…”  Spencer added.  A blush rose to Glen’s cheeks.  Arthur forced a smile, and then Spencer snickered.  “Yours to Dad.”  Now it was Arthur’s turn to blush.

“It is unacceptable.  To have such filth in this house, it is time to go back to your roots and cleanse this family.”  Grandmother Potter stated from the end of the hallway.  Showdown, which was all Clay, could think of, to describe the scene that was before him.

“Hello to you too, Nancy,” Arthur stated.  “Nice of you to come and visit, but I think we should discuss my children’s punishment before going around with the whip or the branding irons.”  Sarcasm in her voice, and Nancy didn’t much appreciated it.

“I told her it was all right.”  Paula said softly from behind her mother, Arthur set his handsome jaw, blue eyes filled with cold fire.

“I think…  No, I know that we are going to talk about this.  As a family, I think it’s important for the children to have a cell phone.  Especially in this city…”

“Perhaps we should discuss St. Catherine’s while we are discussing matters.”  Nancy stated.  Spencer turned, giving her father a pleading look.  The gauntlet had been thrown down, and Arthur wasn’t about to stand for it.  He met Spencer’s eyes.

“I’m not going to a boarding school.”  Spencer hissed.

“You’re not going anywhere, honey.”  Arthur said to her softly.  Glen and Clay watched the events unfolding as if they weren’t a part of it.

“Young lady…”  Nancy began, “you’ve strayed from your chosen path.  Now, come have supper, and we will discuss your fate.  Glen, you look wonderful young man.”  Nancy said kissing his cheek and Glen looked over at Spencer, whose cheeks were bright red.  He didn’t think he could handle loosing Spencer.  As much as he didn’t like the fact that his sister was going over to the dark side of the force, he wasn’t ready to see her off to a boarding school.

The adults moved off into the dining room, arguing softly under their breaths.  Spencer looked at Glen, then to Clay.  “You realize, our lives as we knew it, is over?”

“Spencer, we don’t want you to go anywhere.  You know that, right?”  Clay asked gently.

“I know.  Glen, we have to stand firm here, this first supper, could very well be the last.”  Spencer stated with ominous undertones.

“I’m with Clay on this one, they aren’t breaking up the family, and you ain’t going to no stinking girls school.”

“All right then, lets go in there, and stand our ground.”  Spencer stated.

Tomorrow – The Supper to end all suppers…..
