Thursdays – (Chapter: Tears and Apologies)

Aaron seemed to understand her expression. “For everything,” he repeated again. “For hurting you. For walking out on you. For running away. Everything.” He pronounced the last word slowly and strongly. Without giving Spencer time to reply he continued.

“I know that no matter how many times I say it, it won’t change anything and it won’t make up for what I did. But I mean it Spencer. I regret what I did every day of my life, and what hurts more is knowing that you’ll never forgive me. But even still I want to try. Even though I know that we can’t have what we once did, I still want to try and be your friend again, because having you around was always amazing, even before we started dating.”

His monologue appeared to be very heartfelt, but Spencer wouldn’t budge. She couldn’t. No matter how sorry he was, the pain that this man in front of her once caused, left her with absolutely no sympathy for him. Well almost no sympathy. And that was the worst part. Despite her pain, there would always be a soft spot inside of her for Aaron. Spencer didn’t know what to do.

“Can I see you sometime. Please…I just want to talk.” He looked at her with pleading eyes. By now, Spencer was on the verge of tears. It took a few moments for her to reply.

    “No. No Aaron…I…I just can’t.”

Spencer watched as his head hung. Looking at her with a sense of defeat, Aaron started to make his way back to the restaurant.

“Look, you probably won’t, but…just incase you change your mind, I work temporarily at a sports store just down the street. Come by and see me if you ever want to….anytime.” He turned around and left.

Spencer was speechless. She didn’t know what to do. Ashley. Tomorrow she would see Ashley. The brunette always made her laugh. She seemed like the only person right now that could make Spencer feel better. The blonde didn’t know if this thought made her happy, or if it scared her. It didn’t matter though. Tomorrow she could clear her head and maybe pull herself back together. Hopefully this could help her begin to process what happened today. As Spencer reached her apartment, she broke down and cried.
