We All Love To Score – (Chapter: 3: The Truth Always Comes Out)

“Yes. Miss Woods will be here shortly if you would like to take a seat.”

“Thank you.” I took my seat waiting. Sarah sat next to me, pretending to read one of the magazines on the table like a grown-up.

About 5 minutes later a woman, a bit shorter than myself, dark hair, dark eyes came wandering in. “My 6:15 I presume.” She offers her hand which I take.

    “Yes. Spencer Carlin.”

“Well Mrs. Carlin, would you like a drink?”

    “Coffee please. White, 2 sugars.”

“And what about this cute little lady here?” She bends down so she is level with Sarah. “Would you like a drink too?”

“Um… can I have a coke please?” She asks shyly.

“Of course you can sweetheart.” She gets back up and looks over to Trish. “Trish, a coke, coffee white 2 sugars and usual thanks babe.”

    “Yes Miss Woods.”

“Kyla.” She mutters, rolling her eyes. “Would you like to step in?” She asks me. “And if you want it to be private there is a playing area just there, don’t worry Trish will keep an eye on her.” She says motioning to Sarah.

“Thanks. Sarah why don’t you go and play over there look.” I point over to the area. “I won’t be long.”

    “Ok mummy.” She runs off.

As we are going into Kyla’s office she turns back and smiles at me. “She’s cute, looks just like you. Take a seat.” I took the seat she offered. “So, what are your reasons for wanting to divorce Mr. Carlin?”

“Actually it’s Mr. Harper. I kept my name when we got married.”

“My apologies. Was there any reason for that?” Trish opened the door brining in our drinks, after a quick ‘thank you’ we carried on talking.

“Well I don’t love him, never have and I didn’t want to take somebody’s name who I didn’t love.”

“So you didn’t love him, but you got married?”

“My family is catholic. It was the ‘right’ thing to do after I got pregnant.” I say rolling my eyes. She made a small laugh.

    “Well Mrs. Carlin-”

    “Spencer, please.”

“Well Spencer, back to the original question, why?”
