When Lovers become Strangers – (Chapter: Part 1)
Jo ran to the door and checked her hair in the mirror that hung near the door; she took a deep breath and opened the door. Blair stood at the door smiling nervously. “Come here Princess.” Jo said extending her arms towards the astonished blond. Blair took the step into Jo’s embrace and it felt like she was coming home, she savored the feel of Jo’s arms wrapped around her body and she felt the distant but familiar arousal that she always felt when Jo touched her, some things never change. As Blair reluctantly tore herself from Jo’s arm she was surprised to notice a little boy clung onto Jo’s leg. The boy had different colored eyes but very much the look and gaze of his mother and Blair’s heart swelled, she felt instant love, but she also felt disappointment and sadness, he belonged to someone else other than her.
Jo felt and saw the change in Blair’s demeanor when she saw the boy and she felt awkward all of a sudden. “This little monster is Brody Blair Halford.” Jo said with a soft smile as she searched Blair’s eyes for some indication what was going through her mind. Since they became distant all those years ago, Jo had lost the ability to know what Blair thought or felt, but old habits die hard and she hoped she would get some inkling. Blair dropped to Brody’s height and hugged the boy and unshed tears threaten to fall but she was able to hold them back, Jo had named her son after Blair.
Jo held out her hand and led Blair into her living room; Jo had done well for herself as her apartment was in a nice part of the Upper East Side, with a fantastic view and a large space. “Wow, nice place.” Blair was surprised that Jo would want to live in such a lifestyle. As they had superficial conversations about weather, work and other current events, Jo excused herself to put Brody to bed. Blair took stock of the living room as Jo was occupied telling Brody a story in the other room. This was a role she had never seen Jo in and it made her fall in love deeper with the woman, as if it was possible. On the mantle of the fireplace, two pictures struck Blair hard; one was of Jo’s wedding to a handsome dark haired man, whose love in his eyes conveyed his emotion for Jo in the picture that even made Blair wince. The second was Jo, her husband and their baby son and the portrait of a happy perfect family. It was overwhelming to know Jo had moved on.
