Ashley didn’t have to take this kind of torture, she wasn’t used to people opening mocking her, people loved her. She’d never missed a day of school in her life, she was an A student,  perfect record with an even better transcript. She didn’t need the counseling program, it wasn’t going to make or break her chances of getting into the school of her choice.

She opened the door to Miss James’ office once again.

“If she’s not going to take this seriously than I’m not bothering with her. She’s hopeless” Ashley said with anger evident in her voice

“No one is hopeless Ashley…” she looks down at her watch “It’s been 4 minutes, go back there and try to put some effort into it, it certainly won’t kill you to try” she replied

“Why can’t you put someone else in there with her?” she asked pleading

“She’s a girl with many layers, much like yourself. I chose you because somewhere in there I know that you were the best candidate. Try talking about what you both like to do, hobbies or clubs you’re in, don’t be afraid to take a different approach to this. Be as creative as you want”

Ashley could only return with a sigh, she soon realized that she was not getting out of this one.

“Start with the light stuff…you’ll be surprised at the progress you will make”

Ashley nodded and began to exit the office.

“And Ashley… be patient”

Ashley gave her one more nod before making her walk back to the room.

As she got to the conference room for the third time she saw Spencer with her head in a book.

She opened the door and sat down in the same chair, Spencer didn’t look up from her book but had a slight smile on her lips as she read, Ashley was ready to leave again assuming the blonde was ignoring her on purpose.

She cleared her throat and Spencer looked up startled.

Ashley narrowed her eyes slightly at her reaction.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you come in” Spencer replies ducking her head and putting the bookmark back in her book
