Bette was behind the wheel as they rest enjoyed the ride. Tina was flipping through a pamphlet as the music played softly through the van.
“They have a skiing resort just a few miles away from the cabin.” She smiled.
“I’m up for it.” Dana spoke up with Alice on her shoulder sleeping.
“Hey you guys, there’s a rest stop within another mile. So if you need to pee or want anything from the gas station, here’s the time.” Bette looked back at everybody through the rearview mirror.
“How’s Angelica?” Tina asked.
“She’s sleeping like a baby.” Kit looked down at her niece in her seat. Shane was looking out the window, and Carmen grabbed a hold of her hand.
“Hey, you okay?” Shane nodded. “Are you sure?”
Shane smiled. “I’m positive.” She leaned over and gave Carmen a kiss.
Tina looked over at Bette. “When we stop, do you want me to drive?”
“It doesn’t matter to me as long as we get there before it gets any darker.” Tina reached over and rested her hand on Bette’s arm.
“We are going to have a great family Christmas, and I have a surprise for you.” Bette glanced at Tina and smiled.
“Oh really?”
“Uh huh,” Tina leaned across her seat and kissed Bette on her cheek. Alice began to move around next to Dana and slowly began to wake up. She yawned and lifted up her head.
“Where are we?”
“We’re still on the road. We have about another two hours or so to get to the cabin.”
“Are we stopping? I need some food.” Dana looked at Alice.
“You’ve been on a serious junk food kick lately.”
“I’m just been hungry a lot more, that’s all.”
“I’ve noticed you looked a little fuller in the face.” Shane spoke out.
“Thanks Shane,” Alice smiled faintly. Bette took a right off the highway to the gas station. She pulled into the station and parked the van.
“All right, potty break.” Tina got out of her seat belt. Everybody began to move around, and Kit got Angelica out of her seat. They all got out of the van and walked into the gas station.

AKcb, it is really thoughtful that you present us this story just in time for Christmas. I just love this and had a smile on my face the entire time reading. S ready to propose, fantastic! A couldn’t keep a secret, so A. D & A arguing, typical and funny. I just hope that the gang would not run into any mishaps when getting their Christmas tree. Btw, A seemed to be eating a lot, was she expecting? If so, that would be the best news of all. Can’t wait for your next update. Thank you.
