A Christmas Story Chapter 2 (Short Story)

“Well I have to get a few snacks and a drink, and I’m ready.”

“I’m coming with you.” Dana followed Alice towards the drinks and snacks. Carmen smiled and wrapped her arms around Shane’s waist.

“Are you ready for our Christmas?”

“Of course I am, as long as I have you by my side.” Shane kissed Carmen softly and rubbed her lower back.

    “I love you.”

“Love you,” Shane kissed her once more.

The white snow covered the ground as they got closer to the cabin. Tina finished the rest of the drive as Bette slept in the passenger seat. Everyone except for Alice and Tina was sleeping. Alice sat up from her seat and leaned up to the front. Tina smiled as she saw her friend next to her.

    “Hey.”

“Hey,” Alice sighed. “You know how someone told you a secret, and you want to tell someone, but you don’t know if you can or not because you don’t what the person might do or say.”

“What are you getting at Al?” Tina kept her eyes on the road.

“Well Shane told me something earlier, and it’s something really special, but I don’t know if I can say anything.”

“Well—don’t tell me.” Tina chuckled softly. “I’m sure I’ll find out sooner or later. If she wants us to know, she’ll tell the rest of us.” Alice nodded.

“Okay. How far do we have?”

“It should be this left turn right here.” Tina turned slowly on the snowy road and continued to drive until she saw the big cabin in front of them.

    “Wow—is that where we’re staying?”

Tina smiled. “Yep, it’s perfect for a family Christmas.”

“What are we doing for a tree?”

“Well I bought a small, fake one for us to decorate.”

“Why don’t we just chop one down of our own? Have ourselves a real Christmas tree.”

“I don’t know Alice. I don’t think we can chop down a tree around here.”

“I think we should chop down a tree anyways. I mean I won’t hurt anything to chop down one tree.”

“Okay, tomorrow morning, we’ll check out one of the trees and see what we can do.”

“Good thinking TK.” Alice smiled and sat back in her seat as Tina pulled up to the cabin.

    1. AKcb, it is really thoughtful that you present us this story just in time for Christmas. I just love this and had a smile on my face the entire time reading. S ready to propose, fantastic! A couldn’t keep a secret, so A. D & A arguing, typical and funny. I just hope that the gang would not run into any mishaps when getting their Christmas tree. Btw, A seemed to be eating a lot, was she expecting? If so, that would be the best news of all. Can’t wait for your next update. Thank you.
