“I’m going to get some more gas before we go.” Bette stretched her arms above her head.
“Do you want anything?”
“A bottle of water and sun chips.”
“All right,” Tina pecked Bette on the lips and walked in. Shane grabbed Alice’s by her arm and walked over by the magazine.
“Whoa—hey what’s going on?”
“I need to tell you something—well show you something.”
“Uhh Shane—I love you, but—,” Shane shook her head.
“It’s nothing like that.” She looked around to make sure Carmen wasn’t in sight. She pulled out something out of her pocket and held it in front of Alice.
“Is that what I think it is?” Shane had a small ring box in her hand, and she opened it.
“Yeah, I was going to ask Carmen to—y’know marry me.” She smiled softly.
“Are you serious?” Shane nodded, and Alice grinned. “That’s great.”
“You think she’ll say yes?”
“Shane—I know she will. She’s so happy with you.” Alice touched her friend’s shoulder. “When were you planning on purposing?”
“On Christmas, at midnight.”
“How were you going to do it?”
“I don’t know, I guess when everyone’s around, opening presents.”
“I can’t wait to see the look on her face.”
“What are you two talking about?” Dana walked up behind Alice, and Shane closed the box.
“Nothing,” Alice shook her head.
“What are you two up to?” Dana looked at them both suspiciously.
“Can I just tell her? If you tell me something, you have to tell her.”
“No you don’t, I think that’s the other way around. It’s when someone tells me something, I have to tell you.”
“No I don’t—I never want to know everything.” Alice argued.
“What? That’s a lie—.”
Shane butted in. “Okay you two,” Shane opened up the box that was in her hand. “I’m going to proposed to Carmen on Christmas.”
“Really?” Dana smiled. “That’s so romantic. It’s really un-Shane like.”
“Thanks D.” Shane said sarcastically.
“No problem.”
“Oh shit,” Shane saw Carmen coming towards them and shoved the ring in her coat pocket.
“Hey, if anybody needs to use the bathroom better use it now, Bette’s ready to get back on the road.” Carmen clasped her hands together.

AKcb, it is really thoughtful that you present us this story just in time for Christmas. I just love this and had a smile on my face the entire time reading. S ready to propose, fantastic! A couldn’t keep a secret, so A. D & A arguing, typical and funny. I just hope that the gang would not run into any mishaps when getting their Christmas tree. Btw, A seemed to be eating a lot, was she expecting? If so, that would be the best news of all. Can’t wait for your next update. Thank you.
