“I’m hiding,” Tina admitted when she saw Bette make her way to the doorway. The admission had the intended affect. Bette paused and turned to face her.
“What?”
“I’m hiding from Brenda,” Tina clarified. Bette walked over and sat on the chair beside her as she continued. “She’s nice and everything, but … oh my God, she’s fucking crazy. I can’t keep up with her.”
Bette sat quietly beside her, not sure how to respond as Tina kept a running commentary.
“I don’t know where she is,” she nodded towards the doorway. “Somewhere out there dancing.”
“I thought you two were so into each other,” Bette said quietly, unsure why she felt such a sense of relief that such was not the case.
“We were just having fun,” Tina shrugged and then paused. “This…this is so not my scene. Bars, clubs. I thought I was past that.”
“I thought we were too,” Bette agreed, staring off at the far wall.
“You’re lucky,” Tina stated simply.
Bette met Tina’s gaze with a decidedly confused look on her face. One that Tina felt the need to banish.
“You’re lucky you have Jodi,” Tina explained.
“Yeah…I really am” was Bette’s verbal reply. ‘I know I should feel that way but something is missing.’ was the implication of her tone.
All Tina heard were the words. She set her glass down and swung her legs around to get up from the chair. She made her way past Bette, but did not manage to get far.
Bette reached for her wrist with her right hand while simultaneously placing her left hand behind Tina’s head, pulling her close for an intimate whole body kiss. There was no chance for Tina to do anything but react. And she reacted as she was meant to. She kissed back.
Alone in the crowd, oblivious to whatever might be going on around them, they both demanded to know what it was that made this happen. But neither wondered enough to make it stop. It just felt so fucking good again.
The music swelled to crescendo in the background as their kissing continued. Tina’s arms were around Bette’s neck. Bette pulled her closer by placing her hands in the small of Tina’s back. More than their lips touched. And more than lips longed to touch, skin on skin. The heat was apparent to both of them and it would have been equally apparent to anyone walking in.
It couldn’t go on forever, no matter how much each may have wanted it to. Tina’s forehead touched to Bette’s as they remained in each other’s embrace. Without warning, Bette’s emotions overtook her. She sobbed in Tina’s arms, and Tina did nothing but comfort her. She didn’t need to use words. Her presence was comfort enough.
Tina swept the stray strands from Bette’s face as she cried, then kissed her gently. But soon they were caught up again, lips having met in an undeniable union of passion.
Bette’s hand moved over the fabric of Tina’s dress. She couldn’t keep the quiet moan to herself as she grazed over a breast.
“Sorry,” Bette whispered between kisses.
“What are you sorry for?” Tina asked as they continued savouring each other’s taste.
“Touching you.”
“Never apologize for that,” Tina replied but ended the kiss.
They kept holding each other.
“Is it alright to kiss me but wrong to touch me?” Tina asked.
“What are we doing?” Bette asked.
“Nothing we don’t want to do,” Tina replied.
“You just finished saying I’m lucky to have…”
Tina placed an index finger over Bette’s lips to end the sentence before it could be spoken aloud. They both knew exactly what Tina had just finished saying.
“We’re lucky to have what we have always had together too,” Tina said quietly. “I have a babysitter that I should get home to. Would you like to join me?”
Bette thought for only a moment.
“I would, yes. But should we?”
“Don’t over think things. Just come with me.”
Lord love a double entendre.
“Are you going to say good-bye to Brenda?”
Tina shook her head.
“What about Shane?” Tina asked.
“I tried to find her,” Bette replied. “And something really important came up. If anyone would understand, Shane would.”
They attempted a separate and surreptitious exit from the room and both made their way out to the parking lot. They nodded furtively at each other across a few rows of cars and got into their respective vehicles. Their minds raced at the possibility of what could happen next.

Oh THUD! That scene was simply incredible. You did a great job Swimmie, bringing a little more to life than just what we saw. I like your version, and eagerly await Part 2. Thanks.
Hello jks, I love that THUD… so much fun. I must say the way you read into that scene is just like how I did. There is no looking back… this is the realization that has always been there… a love that is boundless and infinite. No matter how hard they try to deny it… you cannot hide from your own emotions. For me this scene was a re-birth for Bette… this is the moment where she becomes whole again and that is in thanks due to her finally realizing that no matter what happens in our lives… that one true undeniable love will always be there haunting you until you finally take the chance… open your heart and just take the leap… stop over analyzing and just take the leap… well I cannot wait for the next chapter and well you never now the chapter after that… well if you get this posted by tomorrow I will consider this the best B-Day gift I could ever get… Brilliant absolutely brilliant. Hell what was with asking if we where going to be interested in your continuing. The answer is a BIG FAT YES!! of course. Did you really need to ask . i love your version and I have to confess I must have watched that scene a million times now and still cannot get over it. “Their minds raced at the possibility of what could happen next.” Yes, and ours as well, JKS ! WOW, this was amazing. You really went for it, eh ? I hope you continue this story, no matter how short you want it to be, for I’m really loving this. I’m wondering if the drive to either Bette or Tina’s home ( but I’m guessing Tina’s ) is going to make them realize what what just happened and what could happen in a short while means. On one hand, I don’t want them to think too much about the potential consequences of what they seem about to do ( there is always plenty of time for drama anyway ), but on the other hand, being given this opportunity to think things through, even for just a few minutes, I believe they’re both going to realize they can’t do it. They are both too overwhelmed by their feelings and emotions right now to make wise decisions, and most of all not to regret their actions afterwards ( even if they both know they’re soulmates and they’ll never love anyone else the way they love each other ). At any rate, any option you’ll choose will be fine with me, JKS. I can’t wait to read more.

Awesome. I’m SO excited about this season, which knowing what IC has done in the past, is absolutely crazy.. but I can’t help it. You put LuH and JB in scenes together..and have them makeout. Thats all I kind of need from this show. I was hoping that there would be a lot of inspiration from the last episode. I’m glad you are writing this.. give me some hope, yo. Brilliant!…I have been suffering horrible Tibette withdrawals since .THE KISS… Really enjoyed seeing your take on the scene… I am eagerly awaiting your next post although I am wondering if we all really want to see Bette in the role of cheat again? and is Tina so willing to go there when she has been on the other side of that triangle?

Wow, Fins, you are the best. What a great scene. Although my issue as much as I have been waiting for these two to FINALLY get together, is that Bette is doingthe same thing to Jodi that she did to Tina all those years ago. I would think Tina would not want her to do that….oh, the drama! Thanks for posting,,,and if you have to go to more than four chapters,,,so be it,,,it is always a pleasure from you.
