A secret love
“Is your boss still seeing that hussy Lara,” Alice asked, irritably.
“As a matter of fact she is,” I say nonchalantly.
“They’re actually really cute together,” Shane added, “they’re better off together, Lara wants a relationship, marriage and kids. That’s totally not me.”
“Definitely not.”
“Hello! I’m sitting right here,” Alice said, her voice raising and octave, “I actually wanted to be with Dana.”
“Oh Al, it wasn’t meant to be. You’ll find someone who deserves you,” I say with a far off look.
“So, Porter, you still seeing Jodi,” Alice asks, quickly changing the subject.
“Actually no, I broke up with her last week.”
“Well, you’re seeing someone; you’re acting too gooey and mushy right now.”
“Alice, leave her alone, if she’s seeing someone she’d tell us when she’s ready.”
“Thanks Shane, and yes, if I am seeing someone I will tell you.”
“You are seeing someone,” she exclaims and points, “who is she?”
“Alice, shut up.”
“Tell me, I need to know.”
“For fucks sake Al, leave Bette alone.”
“She’s seeing someone, I know, I’m an expert in relationships. Who is she? Hot new nurse on five? Oh I know, really cute radiology tech!”
“I’m not seeing anyone!”
“Oh my God,” Alice gasps, “bad Porter! It’s not Tina!”
“Jesus Alice, shut the fuck up,” I say through gritted teeth.
“Alice, come on, back off.”
“This is a slippery slope you’re on Bette Porter. You cannot keep seeing Tina, this is insanity,” she said whispering.
“Don’t you think I fucking know that?”
“No, I don’t think you know. You don’t realize how this relationship could affect not just you and Tina but Eric, Jackson, her parents, his parents, I mean, you and her are gonna cause a lot of damage and hurt a lot of people. Plus she’s not even out! Is she gay, straight, bi?”
“I hate to say it but Alice is right and she could also hurt you.”
“I know, I know,” I say resting my head in my palm.
“Have you even talked about where this is going? Has she even admitted to herself what and who she is,” Shane asked calmly and quietly.
“No. I mean, she told me that night we spent together meant something to her. That she loved being near me, kissing me, and waking in my arms. That has to mean something right?”

Very interesting but sad chapter, it is hard to judge what is right and what is wrong, especially when we are not involved.
Thanks
