    A secret love

“I don’t know, you’re gonna have to talk to her.”

“No you have to end this,” Alice stated, “this is wrong. You’re threatening to break up a marriage. You’ve already helped Tina cheat.”

    “I know, I’m a bad person.”

    “You’re not a bad person.”

“Yes I am, I know I should break it off with her, but,” I say, tears forming in my eyes, “I love her.”

I parked in front of The Planet; my melancholy mood had not lifted. I had been thinking about what Shane and Alice said, are they right? Should I really break it off with Tina? What do I even have with her? There were so many questions left unanswered. I sat in my car for a while, I tried to think happy thoughts to change my mood, but nothing could. I found no solace in my thoughts; in fact it only got worse. My happiest thoughts were with Tina, she made me so unbelievably happy. I get out and walked inside and I seek Kit out.

“Hey Kit,” I say in a tone of anguish.

“Hey baby girl, what’s the matter?”

“I have to tell you something and I don’t want judgment, I just want to talk to you.”

“I would never judge you,” she says as I sit in the chair in front of her desk.

“I’ve been seeing Tina for a couple of weeks.”

“I know, I’ve known for a while,” she said, her face softening.

“Yeah, this is getting to be too much for me. I am falling so fast for her, but I have to break it off with her.”

“I know you little sis, and I know you love with all your might. But, this is the right decision; for everyone involved.”

“I know and it hurts so much,” I say and tears escape my eyelids, “I really do love her with all my heart, I wish so much that I had met her years ago, but I cannot change the fact that she’s married.”

“Hey Kit, is Bette,” I heard and saw Tina, “you’re here. What’s wrong?”

“I will leave you two alone,” Kit said and closed the door as she left.

“Bette, what’s the matter? Why are you crying?”

“Tina, I have been thinking over and over about this. I have been racking my brain for ways around this but there’s no way around this.”

“What Bette? What are you talking about,” she said, getting anxious. I sucked back my tears and I cleared my throat.

“This, us…whatever this is can’t be anymore. We can’t do this anymore.”

“What do you mean,” she said, tears forming.

“What I mean is that I have to walk away.”

As the tears rolled down her cheeks, I walked out of the office. I held my tears in until I got to my car, as soon as I got in, they flowed free. I cried all the way home, and I went into my empty home and I cried. I collapsed onto my floor and cried, I don’t know how long I was on the floor when I heard a small knock on my door.

“Alice, go the fuck away,” I shouted.

I heard the small knock once more and the tears dried up and anger replaced them. I pulled myself off the floor and swung the door open. I was ready to spout anger when I saw that it wasn’t Alice on my doorstep but Shane, with a twenty-four pack of beer and a bottle of vodka.

“Thought you could use this,” she said handing me the bottle.

Shane cracked her beer open and I sipped on my vodka with cranberry juice and we sat and talked. She listened as I talked and cried and whined. I had gone through almost half of the vodka and she had gone through half her beers when she passed out on my floor. I sat staring at the TV when I heard a knock on my door once again. I was most definitely in a better mood to talk to Alice than earlier. I got up and stumbled a bit, I walked slowly to the door. Staggering, I made it to the door and a knock came again, I open it to the crystal blue eyes of Tina.

    1. Very interesting but sad chapter, it is hard to judge what is right and what is wrong, especially when we are not involved.

      Thanks
