A Slow Dance – Chapter 5
Tina woke up for the third time that night. She whipped her head over and stared at the clock. Four A.M. She let out a tired sigh as she covered her face with her hands. She had to get some sleep tonight; otherwise her lunch with Bette would be spent trying to stay awake instead of listening to the woman who had captured her attentions. Tina’s arms flopped back down on top of the down comforter helplessly. She lay there like that for a moment before she decided that she wouldn’t get any sleep any time soon.
Tina sat up and dragged her legs over the side of the bed. She looked out the French doors next to her bed, staring past the blinds that were pulled down for privacy. After a moment, she rose up off the bed and shuffled to the doors, pulling them open and walking outside.
A cool night breeze whispered along her face as Tina stared sleepily out over the LA horizon. The quiet sound of traffic seven stories below was soothing to her, almost like an urban lullaby. She leaned against the railing of her balcony and looked down to see smatterings of people walking on the sidewalk and getting into their cars to drive home, or to another party. From this distance, everything had always looked so much better to Tina. Often times, she would come out here late at night just to clear her head, and that’s exactly what she was trying to do tonight.
So many things had happened in just one insignificant day. She remembered Billie Holiday’s words and chuckled to herself. She never really knew what a difference a day made until she met Bette. The art director was also the core reason why she couldn’t get any sleep.
Tina rubbed her arms slowly, trying to warm away the goose bumps. After a moment, she realized the goose bumps weren’t from the chill night air.
Tina laughed, one loud, incredulous burst from her mouth. Another amused sound popped out, and then another. Before she knew it, she was on the floor of the concrete balcony, her back against the railing, laughing hysterically. Tears sprang from her eyes and ran down red cheeks, dampening the tank top she was wearing. Try as she might, Tina Kennard could not stop laughing.

Hey I just read all the chapter and WHOA! you got a really Wonderful Story I Love it Please continue and I can’t wait to read more of this Thanks.
Oh, baby, this is just soooo good! You’ve got me wrapped up in every single stunningly-written detail!! This is rich, rich, rich!!! I was even entertained by Bette’s introduction: Tina…Marina…Marina…Tina. Reminded me of Letterman’s classic: Uma…Oprah…Oprah…Uma. But I have a really weird way of free associating sometimes…not to mention an odd sense of humor. goddess, don’t stop writing this any time soon, okay? Unless of course school gets in the way. Then you’re excused.
To answer your question with a question: didn’t anyone ever tell you it was impolite to ask a lady her age? :) Let it suffice to say for now that I’ve seen thirty and I’m not dead yet!
Keep up the heavenly writing, goddess!
(I hate writing in this little box. I can’t see what I’m doing…where I’ve been…or where I’m going.)
Great chapter and story can’t wait for the next post!!!
oh yes this so good i love its directness or at least Tinas!…lol not too shy so far i love it but as you pointed out to me in your authors note why would she be when its someone as beautiful as Bette…lol really enjoying this… more please!
lunch was wonderful. Made you wish you were there watching it happen. ; ) Oh..and all the talk about age..don’t make us over 30 women feel too old. Post another soon…love reading it.
Great update. Just finished reading the last 3-chapters. Between, short meetings at the gallery, and lunch I don’t know if these two can take much more of each other before they burst. Have to say great line, “Were all straight until were not”, love it. But whats up with the age thing. Looking forward to your next update. Careful with the neighbors.
oh i really liked that. hmm what to do about the eric problem. well pleae let me know soon. thanks.
Good chapter. Those 2 are so cute, and they need to be together soon as a couple, love it. Ok please post soon, thanks!
Well talk about lunch….huummm….goddess. What a nice update and such a wonderful lunch with our two girls, it almost sent shivers down my spine. Post soon
Hmmm….my spine wasnt the only thing shivering…..(Breathe snQQpy… Breathe)
My thoughts…..
Well, this is the first story I read with Bette “cracking her back.” I didnt know she knew how to do something like that. After reading your description of the act, I was ready to jump on my bed and give it a try; but then I was afraid I may beak something…LOL
It has always been hard as hell for me to picture Tina in “power suits.” Thats more of a Bette thing.
”We’re all straight until we’re not -_- I love this!
”You got it, Mack Daddy.” -_- Alice has been making cracks like this to Bette for as long as I can remember. Is there a stud in Bette dying to come out and only Alice knows about? Or is Alice actually making cracks at Bette’s “A” type personality?
hugging Tina’s hips with authority -_- Now I know how to describe that hot little number hanging in my closet once I put it on.
Tina could’ve sworn she saw the entire room light up when Bette smiled back at her. -_- This made me think of that commercial where the female schoolbus driver smiled and cars started crashing from the glare…LOL
Just loves this story – keep’em comming…
make me laugh when i you wrote about how Tina broke into hysterical laugh at the balcony. Sometimes i do wonder back the silly things i do during the day..and laugh it all out. LOL~ need some release i guess? Wonderfully written..post soon!
really nice!
nice that their taking is slow !!!!!!!!!!!!! Who is watching them
