“Well, there’s no need to worry, Bette. I’m taking care of her.” I heard the irritation and annoyance in Tina’s voice.
“I didn’t mean to imply that you weren’t, Tina,” I replied, trying to disguise my impatience with a calm tone.
Silence.
I know Tina was trying to collect herself, just as I was, to avoid any further offense. Our conversations, though infrequent, could become rather mean-spirited these days. Tina liked grinding the axe. And I admit, I occasionally enjoyed throwing a few jabs.
“So, why are you calling tonight, Tina?” I asked, in as placid of voice that I could summon.
“Actually, Bette, I was calling to tell you that I’ve re-thought my taking Angelica with Henry and I to meet his parents on your scheduled weekend visit, as I told you yesterday when you dropped her off. I know you were concealing your anger, which you had every right to. We have an agreement. I realize that. And I want to be fair,” Tina explained.
Helena walked into the kitchen tying the sash on my robe, which she so beautifully wore.
I had two things to smile about. Tina’s re-consideration and the sight of the gorgeous woman I was taking to bed with me tonight. I watched Helena as she emptied the bottle of Sauvignon Blanc into the two wine glasses that remained on the table from dinner. She took a long sip from one. Then carrying our plates to load into the dishwasher, Helena looked up and smiled at me. I took in the sight of her ass as she bent over the machine.
“Bette, are you there?” Tina asked.
“Yes, sorry, I was, um, a bit distracted. Thank you. Of course I want Angelica that weekend. I appreciate your desire to present an equitable resolution to this matter,” I replied.
“An ‘equitable resolution’?” Geez, Bette, you don’t need to be so formal. Who are you entertaining? The Queen of England?” Tina asked.
Taken aback, not only by the reference to a British woman, but also by the insinuation that someone was with me, I could only think to respond, “Excuse me?”
Tina ignored my question. “Oh, one more thing before I go, Bette.”
“Yes?” I asked.
“Angelica has some immunization shots scheduled tomorrow. I just wanted you to know,” Tina informed me. “Sometimes those shots make a baby feel kinda yucky. I thought you might want to check in on her.”

Enjoy your writing, zheese, and also your vision of Bette and Helena together, which is sizzling hot and loving at the same time. I wonder when Helena will have the guts to tell Bette how truly, madly, and deeply she actually loves her?
I like that there is much feeling behind the f*cking in your story. I hope when Tina finds out she… oh, I dunno, explodes or something.

We all know that Tina will be jealous of anyone that Bette will ever be with. If Tina has a house full of kids with her boy toy. she will always be jealous of anyone with Bette. Bette is getting to the point where she doesnt give a flying fig. thanks

Hey zhese,if i could rate your story i’d give it 5 stars! I hate that Tina can still get to Bette that way. Bette needs to take Helena’s advice ad forgive herself-we all do make mistakes and just b/c Tina won’t let Bette forget their past doesn’t mean that Bette has to let it intrude on her future w/ Helena. I think Tina is going to be destroyed when it comes out that helena is the woman Bette is spending her nights with—AND I CAN’T WAIT!!!
Tina is a vicious, vindictive bitch. She knew that Bette was going to instantly return her call due to the last hour. She also knew that Bette would think something was wrong with the baby since she called that late. Tina needs to stop playing games. She’s got Henry; so why should she have her panties in a bunch because Bette is about to get her freak on? I will be delighted when Tina’s shit no longer has an effect on Bette. I’m glad Helena is turning into the perfect partner for Bette. IMHO, Tina NEVER knew what she wanted.
Really like knowing Tina will spend the night thinking about Bette w/ another woman. It will be interesting when it comes out who! Looking forward to your next post. Thanks for writing.
I fully agree. Bette needs to forgive herself. She made a mistake. How long does she need to walk on hot coals? Bette……….baby girl, stop doing this to yourself!! I also hope Tina spends a fretful night biting her nails wondering who Bette is being intimate with…….. “God, Bette, Angelica’s fine. Slow down! Hmmm…so Bette has to be careful about what she says to Tina as long as her legal relationship with Angelic is legally nebulous, but that doesn’t mean she has to let Tina get to her. OK, so Tina knew she was with someone. So what? If Tina wants to portray herself as nothing but blamelessly hurt, then Bette should start to concentrate on the hot, needy creature waiting in her bed who wants her as she is instead of the vindictive, game-playing shrew on the phone. Did Tina call late as it’s the best time to interrupt ? Aha!
Excellently written as usual Zheese! Bette shouldn’t give a flying f*ck what tinho thinks anymore, that woman has no right to be judgemental towards Bette. Bette needs to forgive herself and move on with that incredibly sexy woman lighting a fire between her legs! Can’t wait for more..

Zheese, I think that Tina in a way is strange. Like the grass is greener on the other side – when Bette is finally financially comfortable having the Dean position and being very intimate iwth someone else (she doesn’t know who yet). However, she’s not too reliable when Bette is down and out, something that Helena has shown not to be. Bette needs someone who can go with her through her ups and down, and not a person who falls asleep when she’s depressed. Great writing! You’re really undoubtly a top notch writer! I LOVED every minute of it.
