    Author Notes:

    “Hey Carmen,” she hears Alice greet her over the line. “Did everything work out with Shane? You guys alright?” “Not exactly…” she sighs.

    Chapter 14 

    Alice’s Apartment

    A loud buzzing sound comes from the door and Alice sighs. “I can never get a moments rest,” she complains, rolling off the couch she was sitting upside down on. She walks over to the buzzer. “Yeah?”

     

    “Alice, it’s me, open up,” she hears Carmen’s voice scrambled through the machine. She buzzes her up and opens her apartment door before returning to her position on the couch. A few minutes later, Carmen walks in and closes the door behind her. She makes her way into the living room, seeing Alice watching an aerobics station with her feet hanging over the back of the sofa. She lets out a small giggle. “What are you doing.”

     

    “Well,” Alice starts and moves a bit to get more comfortable. “I find it a lot more interesting to watch the world upside down. Especially when people are running or jumping or something.”

     

    “Why?” Carmen asks skeptical.

     

    “Because, when they bounce, you never know if they’re going up or down,” Alice answers. “It’s a hard concept to wrap your mind around. You should try it, it’s actually really amusing.” She laughs as the rest of the women in the show join the instructor.

     

    Carmen stands speechless for a moment before dropping her purse to the floor and giving in. She sits beside Alice on the couch, following her example. She laughs as soon as she sees the screen. Alice laughs as well and soon they both can’t control it. Tears break through Carmen’s eyes as Alice snorts. “Oh my Gooodddd!” Carmen manages to screech through her laughter. “I don’t even know why this is so funny!”

     

    “I think it’s from all the blood rushing to our heads,” Alice answers and takes a deep breath. “I’m not sure how healthy this is…” Carmen breaks into another burst of laughter.

     

    “We’re probably killing so many brain cells.”

     

    “That’s what it is!” Alice adds. “It’s like a natural high or something.”

     

    “Wow…” Carmen giggles as their laughter slows down. Soon they are watching the TV in silence.

     

    “Aren’t you supposed to be setting up a bed right about now?” Alice asks, breaking it.

     

    “Yeah – we got into a fight instead.”

    1. Aww. Shane kindly puts together Carmen’s bed and even gets her a rose, but she ends up getting dumped. Poor thing. But I must say, that she kind of had it coming. Now is a good time for her to put things into perspective, and figure out what, or who, should come first. Like Jenny said, some people “don’t understand exactly what love is until they’ve lost it.” This is a chance for both Shane and Carmen to understand what they had or might have had. Great last couple updates. (and I’m still loving Alice and Carmen’s friendship, it’s so original. :D )

    3. Ditto. Finally Shane’s made her decision and what happens? Carmen breaks up with her?!? That was very bad timing, guys… Now I can’t wait to see Carmens way to get her back. This gesture of Shane was just too cute, they can’t break up right now! So I hope it will all work out…And the conversations between Carmen and Alice are pretty funny ^^.
