“Maybe we should just tell them we’re trying?”

            “Always so brilliant Ms. Kennard. Okay I’m going to hop in the shower and change.”

            “Should we go together?”

            “Tina I thought the idea was to leave on time?”

            “Not to shower Bette… though… I meant to brunch should we go together or meet there?”

            “Together give those girls something to really talk about.” Bette says before entering the bathroom. “I’ll just be a few minutes then we can head to your place and get you changed. Don’t you go running away now.” She turns and winks at Tina who intently eyeing her naked form.

            “Wouldn’t dream of it Porter.”

            They pull up to The Planet only a remarkable twenty minutes behind schedule. Tina looks over at Bette as she parks the cars. She reaches her hand over and touches Bette’s arm.

            “You ready for this?”

            “Born ready baby.” Tina chuckles as the car stops. Bette gets out of the car and walks around to Tina’s side opening the door for her. Tina slides out and Bette grabs her hand, they entwine their fingers before both taking a deep breath in. ‘Her goes nothing’ Bette thinks to herself. She looks over at Tina and flashes her a smile.

            “I love you, you know that right?” Tina squeezes her hand in response.

            “I love you too.” They make their way toward the entrance of The Planet, they stand at the door for a moment and finally spot their friends.

            “Well fuck me.” Alice says sharply.

            “Jesus Alice, do you constantly have screech that way?” Shane’s voice still husky from last nights conquests.

            “But Shane look.” Alice says motioning for Shane to look up.

            “Well fuck me you’re right.” The whole table laughs and they each begin to stand and clap as Bette and Tina approach. The Planets walls now echo the girls hoots and hollers.

            “Thank God. You both have come to your senses.” Alice says grabbing Bette and Tina for a hug.

            “Thanks Al.” They say their thanks and all begin to sit back down at the table.

            “So when’s the wedding?” Alice quips smiling broadly. As much as she joked around her heart was soaring for Bette and Tina who like for many of them became the epitome of what a relationship could be. Their break up shattered those illusions for Alice who was on the brink of losing all hope about love.

            “We’re trying Al. No weddings. Just taking it slow.” Tina says looking adoringly at Bette.

            “Who are you two trying to kid?”

            “No seriously Al we have a lot to work on separately and as a couple…” Bette grabs Tina’s hand once again “but if you wanna know a little secret…” She leans over to whisper in Alice’s ear, “this time I’m in it forever.”
