    Meet the parents.

    Bette smiled widely and kissed Tinas hand. We heard a wail just then, from the baby monitor on the coffee table in front of us.

    “Ill go,” said Bette, “Ill be back.”

    She slowly got up and made her way upstairs. We turned to Tina who was still watching Bette ascend the stairs.

    “You really do love her,” I state

    Tina turns her attention to me and raises an eyebrow.

    “Yes, I really do.”

    “Can you ever forgive us,” Laurence asks his voice catching in the process

    Tina stares at her father for a moment and then looks at me for another moment. I see tears welling up in her beautiful eyes and all she can do is nod for she has no voice to give.

     

    *Bette*

    I go and check on the twins. I sit down in the rocking chair with Lochlain and feed him humming along to the song that will not leave my head. Even though its not a lullaby Lochlain doesnt seem to mind. He is staring up at me with those beautiful green eyes. I smile down at him. When hes had his fill I carefully lay him back down in his crib and take Gabriel and feed him as well.

    Once he is asleep I lay him down in his crib and just watch my boys sleep for a few minutes. Im trying to give my love some time with her parents. I sit back down in the rocking chair and close my eyes. I just need to rest for a few minutes. Sometime later, Im not sure how long to see Tina standing over me with a smile.

    “Hi T,” I say wiping my eyes, “Were are your parents?”

    Tina kneels down in front of me and places both of her hands palm side down on my thighs, “They went back to the hotel.”

    I see how my love had been crying. I run a finger down her cheek following the path that her tears had taken.

    “Thank you,” Tina says after a moment of silence, “For giving them back to me.”

    I smile, “You are very welcome Tina. It was something I knew you wanted but were too afraid to ask for.”

    She smiles at this, “Lets go to bed baby.”

    I allow her to pull me to my feet. We look down at each of our beautiful babes and then walk the short distance to our bedroom. Stripping of our clothing we climb into bed and lay skin to skin in each others arms. I go to sleep knowing that all was as well as it could be in the world.



    TBC…I really do have a song in my head that won’t go away.  It’s weird, it’s been there for like five years and I periodically find myself singing it, it won’t go away!  It’s called ‘I Will Go With You’ by Donna Summer.  It’s good.  You should go listen to it.
