After dropping Angelica off at the sitter’s Bette had returned home to put some of her answers to the inevitable questions she knew the Board would have for her in two days on paper. Eventually, as she stared down at the blank page in front of her, the fourth in 40 minutes having crumpled all its predecessors as garbage, Bette had given in and decided to head to The Planet for a very light brunch. Perhaps the walls there wouldn’t seem to close in on her as they were here. Only 2 more hours Porter and then this nightmare will be done, one way or another it will be done. she told herself as she drove wanting to believe that the words were true.

11:00 am The Planet

The Planet was slower than usual at this time Bette noticed as she entered, an oddity given LAer’s penitent for brunch. Seeing Bette Kit headed straight toward her sister. Bette wondered wryly to herself This day is almost enough to make me believe I have the worst karma in the universe as she braced herself for a confrontation.

(As she looks Bette over head to toe) "Baby sis you look like shit and its only 11 o’clock. Find a seat I’ll bring you a coffee and some of the brunch special. I have things to say to you but by the way you look right now they can wait"

Grateful, Bette found a seat in the back and sat down. Placing her head in her hands and closing her eyes she found the ache she had felt since Tina’s departure this morning intensified as she waited. Focus. You have to focus. Monique will be counting on exactly this she commanded herself. Only when she heard the soft thud of the cup and plate being placed on the table in front of her and the sound of a body sitting in the chair directly in front of her did Bette speak, "Kit I don’t have the energy right now can’t we wait to do this?"

"Sure we can wait to do whatever it is you’re talking about the only problem is its not Kit" came the response.

Instantly Bette’s eyes flew open to see Shane sitting across from her. Concern marked her friend’s face as she continued, " I saw you come in and things looked a little intense. Kit looked pissed so I offered to get this for you. Now I am glad I did. What the hell is up Bette? You look like well…"
