    Chapter 35: Progress

    “I’m going out for a while. I just remembered that James and I need to check a couple of things by the gallery. I may also visit Kit after. She’s in town for a couple of days.”

    “Oh, Ok. Do you want me to come with you?” Jodi asked.

    “No. It’s Ok. And I don’t think you’d want to see Kit anyway.”

    “Maybe you’re right. Call me later. Maybe we can meet and eat out.”

    “Sure. I’ll call you once I’m done.” Bette proceeded to the bathroom to take a shower and get ready for the day. Once inside Bette’s phone alerted an incoming message was received. Jodi took the phone and saw the display message. It was from Shane.

    Tina’s got mild anemia but she’s got it under control…

    The preview got cut off. Jodi proceeded to open Bette’s message and read the entire text.

    Tina’s got mild anemia but she’s got it under control. That was why she was at the hosp yesterday. She just told me about the meeting you had at the resto. Don’t think too much about it, Bette. Nothing’s going on.

    Jodi read the first part of Bette’s message and was angry at what she saw. This was not how it was supposed to be.

    Bette said she was in a meeting with an artist? What the hell is going on? Did Bette lie to me? Why? And why is she even asking about Tina?

    She placed the phone back to where she found it and left a note to Bette telling her she went out for an errand. When in truth, she was trying to figure out a way to stop the madness she thought Bette was getting herself into.

    Bette just finished her work at the gallery and was on her way to meet Kit when she received text from Kit saying that she won’t be able to meet her today since her appointment lasted longer than expected. Bette replied to Kit telling her it was fine. It was still early and she really did not want to go to Jodi’s house yet. She drove around and found herself at Alphaville’s Studio entrance.

    “Hey Bette! Long time no see, you here to see the Mrs.?” The guard on the entrance asked.

    5. jodi really does irk me in this story. If she truly loved Bette she would not force herself onto Bette. Tina is doing what she should do, let Bette come back to her.
