    “Return To Sender…”
    STRESS

    The morning had come quickly for the three friends. Alex had
    woken up first and made coffee.

    Alex: It amazes me to see people who can function without
    coffee this early in the morning.

    He was starring at Alice who was folding all of the
    blankets.

    Alice: I like coffee and yes I drink it every morning but it
    isn’t what gets me moving in the morning. I’m just a morning person I guess.

    Alex: Mornings make me sick. Physically ill. And people who
    like mornings make me want to die.

    Tina sat quietly drinking her cup. Her eyes scanning the
    room still trying to adjust to the sunlight.

    Tina: Can we not go to work today?

    Alex: Sure, I just know they’ll love that.

    Tina: I’m sure they would.

    Something caught Tina’s eye. It was the envelope Alex had
    found in the middle of the night. She reached across the counter and grabbed
    it.

    Tina: What is this?

    Alex: oh yeah, I forgot sorry. I woke up late last night
    because I heard something weird in the hall and I found this slipped under the
    door.

    Alice: What is it?

    Tina: I don’t know.

    Alex: Isn’t that Bette’s handwriting on the front?

    Tina: Yeah. I think so. Alex why didn’t you give this to me
    last night?

    Alex: You were sleeping so peacefully. I figured if it was
    bad news and I woke you up, it would ruin your night.

    Tina slightly smiled.

    Tina: Thank you for your consideration but this could be
    important Alex.

    Alice pushed past Alex to be at Tina’s side when she opened
    it.

    Alice: Yeah Alex! It could be important.

    Tina tilted her head to look at Alice.

    Tina: Don’t you start Al, you’re the one who got us in this
    mess.

    Alice: I was hoping you would have forgotten about it by
    now…no luck?

    Tina: No luck!

    Alex: Are you going to open it or not?

    Tina: well maybe I should open it alone, in the other room…

    Alex: No, I think that would be a bad idea.

    Alice: Yeah me too. I mean what if you faint while you’re
    reading it and pass out. Then on the way down you bump your head knocking
    yourself unconscious. Alex and I would have no idea because we are all the way
    out here.
