“I adore Michael as well. I promise I will ask for help if needed but hopefully we won’t have any dire emergencies that would necessitate interrupting your sabbatical. As a matter of fact I might steal him from you while you’re gone. I need someone trustworthy to help me run things around here. I’d love to have James, but I can’t pull him away from the gallery.”

“You know bringing Michael out here to work for you might not be such a bad idea. He’ll keep you in check and still work on my behalf.”

“What do you mean?” Bette asked intrigued to know where Peggy’s mind was taking this.

“Well just because you’re a big shot executive now doesn’t mean you are off the hook. I still expect you to be my personal art consultant. If you come across any new findings over the next couple of years I expect to hear about them and Michael can help. I’ve also given Bruce full authority to make art purchases on my behalf with your recommendations.”

“You’re incorrigible.” Bette had to smile at Peggy’s audacity.

“I know. That’s why you love me so much. So enough about business. How’s your lovely wife.”

“Tina is amazing. I can’t believe we will be celebrating our seventh year wedding anniversary soon.”

“That’s wonderful darling. Congratulations. So when are you going to make me a grand-mother?”

“Actually, we’ve decided that now feels like the right time to start trying. Tina wants to be the birth mother for the first one and then we’ll see how it goes.”

“Would you consider carrying a baby as well?” Peggy asked excited at the prospect.

“We’ve talked about it, and yes I’d like to experience childbirth too. Of course I’m a bit older than Tina but I’m in great health. There is no reason why I couldn’t try. The timing now just makes more sense for Tina to be the one to get pregnant. She’s at a point in her career where she’s looking for a change. She wants out of the movie industry, but hasn’t decided what’s next so she is taking a couple of years off to have the baby and be a stay at home mom to give herself time. She might pursue something in social services. She’s a volunteer at the West Hollywood Family and Youth Center so she might expand that role into a career. Oscar is desperate for a new Director and Tina has agreed to help him out until he finds a suitable replacement.”
