    Chapter 10 – Big Bear Mountain – Day 2

Tina: Well, that’s one less thing we have to carry. But looks like the food is going to more than make up for it.

Bette: I’m going to equalize the weight between the three of us. We’ll be fine.

Tina went to the bedroom, put away her clothes from the laundry and began to select her wardrobe for the day. She too decided that she did not need a shower this morning since she had one just before bed. She chose some cargo pants, sports underwear, sports bra, a t-shirt, a pull over sweater and a hoodie. She knew she would be taking her heavy coat, so, she should be well covered. She would wear some thick socks and her hiking boots. Her hat and gloves were in the pockets of her coat. And Bette was packing a rain cloak which would go over all of it in the event of rain. Its sole purpose was to keep the wearer dry. It was a thin light weight green plastic cloak with a hood and arms. She hoped that she would not need to test its effectiveness. The coats were water resistant but with a down pour, they might not be as effective as the plastic.  They were fine with snow, but water was a different matter. The last thing Tina wanted was to be soaking wet and the temperature be in the 40’s and dropping. She didn’t want that for Daniel or Bette either.

Bette dug out every one’s sun glasses and placed them on the dining table. She then proceeded to pack the back packs. She put the lunch cooler in her backpack. She put the bread, the paper plates and flat wear, napkins and the mayonnaise in Tina’s backpack. She put the three servings of cobbler, the hunting knife, the toilet tissue, and the cleanup wipes in Daniel’s bag. She then put four bottles of water in each back pack along with a bag of trail mix, two apples and one banana. Then she put two granola bars in each bag. She then put three bungy cords in each bag. Daniel had the also had the first aid kit. Bette then pulled several paper towels and placed those in her back pack. All that was needed was their cell phones unless they wanted to carry them in their pants pockets. Then Bette had finished cleaning the kitchen and started the dish washer.
