Chapter 12
“Bette have you had breakfast?” asked Allyn
“I had fruit and yogurt but I’d love a cup of coffee.” Bette answered.
“We can do much better than that. Come on. Maria has prepared a nice breakfast on the patio. We can sit outside and talk before it gets too unbearably hot.”
“That sounds great. Do you mind if I freshen up a bit first?”
“Not at all. Do you need to get anything from your car?”
“No Matt already took my bag to the guestroom. I just need someone to show me the way.”
“I’ll show her mother. We’ll meet you on the patio in a few minutes.”
On the way to the guest bedroom and in suite bathroom the two women got to know each other. Bette was surprised to learn that Alyson had been a curator for one of the top museums in the country and now did the work freelance.
“I’m not sure how you did it but I’m thrilled that my mother has agreed to this retrospective at the CAC. I’ve been after her for years to let me curate an exhibit for her but we never agreed on the right venue. The new CAC is perfect. So different from when Franklin was in charge.”
“So you’ve been there recently?” Bette asked surprised that their paths had not met before this.
“Yes. I was in Los Angeles for Provocations a few days after the opening. It was simply amazing. I was very impressed with the renovations. Your assistant Michael told me that you were responsible for the architectural redesign and the multi-media wing. I was so disappointed when he said you were out of town. I wanted to meet and congratulate you.”
“Thank you. I’m sorry I missed you. I was away on a ten day silent retreat. It was a very trying time leading up to the show. I needed to regroup.” Bette said by way of explanation.
“I can imagine. I kept up with the news and that whole Faye Buckley thing. What a nightmare for you.” Alyson offered her sympathies.
“It was a difficult time but we persevered and had a wonderfully successful show in the end.” Bette said making light of the emotional distress it had caused in addition to everything else going in her personal life.

Great job BAT, helena is such a bitch and I’m happy that you did not try to make her a nic e person, she needs to have her face kicked in and hopefully Bette will be up to the task. I could never stand her on the show, such an evil bitch. As much as I care àbout Tina she has really disappointed me in this story and I almost feel sorry for her, almost. Since Tina is with henry maybe helena will not be able to get her nasty hooks into her. Thanks for posting. Have a great week.

Hey Bat, this chapter was really amazing, I like so much the change in Bette’s mood, though I know, the pain is still under her skin, I was wondering about the sexual orientation of Allyson, thinking on a possible affair with Bette, but for me, Bette definitely have to change her ways. I guess Helena will approach Tina, and will make (or try at least) her to come back from hetero-Ville, as we know Tina is attracted to women “even though you are the only woman I have ever been with I’m also attracted to women” as she said in the former chapter, and we know it is not about sex but the emotional connection as you said in chapter 9, I don’t know if Tina will find that with Henry (I doubt it, for me disgusting), and she still doesn’t get her answers; but Helena being the bitch that she is, may want to go after Tina, to show Bette, that she could achieve what the director of the CAC couldn’t. I really going to miss your daily updates, thank so much for this story, I’ll be waiting for the next one as everybody else; have a good trip.
