“You said something about plans changing Al?” I questioned trying to get the blonde back on track.

“Right, the weekend, thanks TK. We’re going out.” Alice replied looking giddy with excitement.

“Out?” Dana questioned “Where?” I replied.

Looking around the room before responding, Alice looked as though she were about to spill state secrets, not what she now had planned for her birthday.                                                                    Motioning for us to lean into her she whispered, “We’re going clubbing!”

“Clubbing?”

“But we’re underage?” stated Dana.

Looking far too pleased with herself Alice responded, “We won’t be on Friday.”

The looks of confusion on my and Dana’s faces must have prompted her to continue. “Lenore’s new boy toy, Kevin. He’s working security on some club in town, says he’ll put our names down and can get us fake IDs as well.”

“That’s illegal, what happens when we get caught?” Dana was looking terrified at the thought. “We’ll get kicked out of school, I’ll never get into tennis camp, and my parents will disown me!”

“Dana calm down, nothing like that will happen. Right Al!” I said trying to placate Dana.

“Right, we won’t get caught,” Alice said unconvincingly. “And even if we did get caught, no way your parents would disown you for it, more likely just ground you until graduation…” Alice smiled.

“Don’t be ridiculous Al, nothing will happen, Dane, I swear it.”

Dana still didn’t look convinced but seemed to be calming down. “Didn’t you need to get to the gym early before next period?”

“Right, right. Better go. See you guys later.” As Dana left the cafeteria, I swiped Alice around the arm.

“Ouch! What was that for?”

“Seriously Al, you know how panicky Dana gets about rule-breaking. Why do you always push her?”

“She knows I mean no harm.”

“Anyway, so this club. Is it not a bit sketchy, this bloke getting underage girls fake IDs?”

Huffing she replied, “You’re being as bad as Fairbanks now.”

“As long as your sure. Because Lenore won’t do anything to you, but Dane’s right, our parents will kill us. And mine hardly need any more reason to lock me away until they can marry me off to Eric!”
