    A New Life

    Chapter 30 – Toronto – The Move

The next morning, both Tina and were up early to get their run in.  Angie had left for her run about an hour earlier.  Once they ran, they decided to shower and dress so that they could get their dirty clothes laundered before they left. They would encourage Angie to get her shower and clothes down as well.

Bette and Tina decided to have a big breakfast as they believed that they would probably have a late lunch and hoped to sleep most of the way to Toronto.

Pierce arrived at 7:30 which was about 30 minutes after the workman on the garage got there.

Bette:  Pierce, you know you are going to have to be here around 6:00 am?

Pierce:  Yes, I know.  I need to be here before the workman get here.

Bette:  You know you can spend the night here.  You can invite your boyfriend over if you like and stay in the guestroom.  It has towels in the on suite and the bed is ready for your use. If you need to wash a few clothes this week, you are welcomed to use the washer and dryer. You can also cook your meals if you like. But you will need to do some grocery shopping.  Now we have lunch food and snacks for you in the fridge.  There is sandwich makings and bread, fruit, vegetables to make a salad. There should be enough of that for a week. We have some left over broccoli slaw that you may eat. If you don’t want it, please throw it out.  The garbage can is around back, so please use it when appropriate. There is a supply of garbage bags in the pantry.  We ask that you give the workman access to the house if they need to use the toilet. They can eat at the table should it be raining, but you will be responsible for making sure everything gets cleaned up after the meal.  We have an entertainment room with a lot of movies that you are welcomed to watch if you stay over.  Here are the keys to the vehicles which they may need to move when painting the garage.  Your job is to make sure none of our stuff walks off nor the house gets trashed with construction debris.  Here is your money for doing this for us.  You have our cell phone numbers. Make yourself at home.  Oh, would you like some coffee or some breakfast?

    1. What a surprising ending, Bette asking Tina to be her wife again.
Is it to soon? if it feels right for both of them, time doesn’t matter.

They have packed Tina’s stuff and are ready to move in a new direction, new jobs and looking for a new beach house.

    2. Bibi,

I actually am glad that you were surprised. Is it too soon? I guess it depends on how you feel about these two. Bette and Tina have taken the time to reestablish their relationship. They have a reasonable understanding of what happened to break them up. Tina made the effort to come back and did it voluntarily. They are both older, mature women who know who they, I believe know each other, as well as any two people can know each other. Life has it limits and sometimes, you have to accept that there are risks in every decision you make. Tina has displayed that she is willing to do whatever it takes to be with Angie, and she loves Bette.

The choice to me for both of them is really rather simple. Take this opportunity to make a life together or say goodbye forever. If things do not turn out perfectly? Well, I guess that’s life. But in the eyes of my Bette and my Tina, it is better to have tried and lose than never to try at all.

      Thanks for reading…

    3. Well, well, well …. A marriage proposal!
      I can’t say I’m surprised.
Tina really has several all ties with her past, with Carrie and with her job with Showtime. She set out to do this, she knew she wanted it, so made her plan and carried it through perfectly.

All the time Bette was by her side, encouraging her but not pressing or pressuring her. Making sure this was really what Tina wanted.

This more than NY I think was more probably more emotional for Tina, cos she now knows, everything is done and she just has to concentrate on her new life with Bette and Angie, her new job and looking for the perfect beach house for their future together.

Angie and Shane are going to be blown away by this news ….. perfect timing, I think !!

    4. Most who have read this story have said they were surprised by the marriage proposal. I think that both Bette and Tina are somewhat surprised themselves. Not something Bette planned but felt that it was the right thing to do.

These two women are a pair of equals in their relationship. They are the left and right arm of the couple. Will they never have problems? Doubtful. There will always be something which will rub one the wrong way. But they have a plan on how to work those bumps, stops and starts out. They now have sufficient information and commitment and love to go forward with A New Life.
