Chapter 30 – Toronto – The Move
Pierce: Some coffee would be nice. I may be making myself a pot each morning if that’s okay.
Bette: Help yourself to the coffee, tea, water and drinks. The workmen have several cases of water for their needs. I leave it up to you to remind them to dispose of their empties appropriately if you see them forgetting. I have already told them to dispose of them properly. Oh, and you can watch TV or watch the workman or read or whatever you decide to do. If anything needs our attention, please call. We will be home on Thursday night or Friday. We will let you know when our plans become definite.
Tina (smiling): I’m sorry, Pierce, you would think that Bette and I don’t trust you. We trust you and you are free to use the house as you see fit, except no big parties or illegal activities. Angie is staying with Shane, so you probably will not see her this week.
Pierce: Tina, I have no doubt Bette trust me. She would never ask someone to house sit if she didn’t trust them. This is just how Bette operates. She just wants to make sure I have all the possible information that I might need. It’s just who Bette is. Remember, I worked for her for the past four months.
Tina: Yes, I remember. Thank you for doing this for us. We really do not expect any problems. But you never know.
Pierce: Well, this helps me out a lot. And I appreciate this opportunity. I will be continuing to search for employment this week and try to schedule any interviews for next week. I’ll consider staying overnight if I foresee any problems getting here before the workman arrive.
Bette: Come sit down and have some coffee. How about some breakfast?
Pierce: That would be great, but don’t go to any trouble for me.
Tina: No problem, Pierce. We’ll just throw in a couple more eggs and toast. We have plenty of bacon and hash browns. Angie will be in down in any minute now. We were just going to sit down to eat.
Angie came in from her run and took her 2nd bottle of water from Bette and went out to the patio. She did her cool down exercises as Pierce watched.

What a surprising ending, Bette asking Tina to be her wife again.
Is it to soon? if it feels right for both of them, time doesn’t matter.
They have packed Tina’s stuff and are ready to move in a new direction, new jobs and looking for a new beach house.
Bibi,
I actually am glad that you were surprised. Is it too soon? I guess it depends on how you feel about these two. Bette and Tina have taken the time to reestablish their relationship. They have a reasonable understanding of what happened to break them up. Tina made the effort to come back and did it voluntarily. They are both older, mature women who know who they, I believe know each other, as well as any two people can know each other. Life has it limits and sometimes, you have to accept that there are risks in every decision you make. Tina has displayed that she is willing to do whatever it takes to be with Angie, and she loves Bette.
The choice to me for both of them is really rather simple. Take this opportunity to make a life together or say goodbye forever. If things do not turn out perfectly? Well, I guess that’s life. But in the eyes of my Bette and my Tina, it is better to have tried and lose than never to try at all.
Thanks for reading…
Well, well, well …. A marriage proposal!
I can’t say I’m surprised.
Tina really has several all ties with her past, with Carrie and with her job with Showtime. She set out to do this, she knew she wanted it, so made her plan and carried it through perfectly.
All the time Bette was by her side, encouraging her but not pressing or pressuring her. Making sure this was really what Tina wanted.
This more than NY I think was more probably more emotional for Tina, cos she now knows, everything is done and she just has to concentrate on her new life with Bette and Angie, her new job and looking for the perfect beach house for their future together.
Angie and Shane are going to be blown away by this news ….. perfect timing, I think !!
Most who have read this story have said they were surprised by the marriage proposal. I think that both Bette and Tina are somewhat surprised themselves. Not something Bette planned but felt that it was the right thing to do.
These two women are a pair of equals in their relationship. They are the left and right arm of the couple. Will they never have problems? Doubtful. There will always be something which will rub one the wrong way. But they have a plan on how to work those bumps, stops and starts out. They now have sufficient information and commitment and love to go forward with A New Life.
